Just recieved this months copy of the GOAL newsletter and I have a few questions about the front page article. Below is the article for those who don't recieve the newsletter.

Moved the questions up top instead of below the article.

Obviously I have quite a few problems with this proposed bill but here are my questions.

Does anyone know what firearms are headed for the "regulated" category or what criteria will put them there?

How many people think a bullet will actually retain the serial number after impact? Has there ever been any testing on this? I guess this is their way around the lack of discarded shells from a revolver.

Ammunition Registration

An Act Providing For The Coding Of Ammunition

A manufacturer shall encode ammunition provided for retail sale for regulated firearms in a manner that the secretary establishes, so that:

1) The base of the bullet and the inside of the cartridge of each round in a box of ammunition are encoded with the same serial number;

2) Each serial number is engraved in such a manner that it is highly likely to permit identification after ammunition discharge and bullet impact, and

3) The outside of each box of ammunition is labeled with the name of the manufacturer and the same serial number used on the cartridge casings and bases of bullets contained in the box.

Ammunition contained in one box may not be labeled with the same serial number as the ammunition contained in any other ammunition box from the same manufacturer.

An owner of ammunition for use in a regulated firearm that is not encoded by the manufacturer as provided above shall dispose of the ammunition.

I'd be interested to know how a 30 or so digit number is supposed to be imprinted on the base of a .22 caliber bullet...The answer, of course, is that it's not. Someone figures that if they make it difficult or expensive enough to be in compliance, that it will discourage either ammo manufacturers or buyers enough to kill sales. And I think handloaders and milsurp types will be ready to 'discard' their thousands of rounds of non-compliant ammo in the general direction of the statehouse...

ok, after this, how can anyone still live in Massachusetts? I don't get it?
I would pack up and move out of there asap.
Alot of you are thinking, Put your money where your mouth is
I did, I used to live in New Jersey and moved to Florida. The legislators who propose this type of garbage are either mentally ill or on drugs. There can be no other possibility because we have bombarded them with educational material and real statistics and they still pull this garbage. I would move out of there.

At this point in my life family ties and financial security have more to do with where I reside than my RKBA. So I do the best I can to support my local RKBA organization and write letters to voice my opinions.

And of course there's the issue of reloading...once the rounds have been fired and us range chickens come along and pick up the brass, the "registration" is useless anyway.

Stupid is as stupid does.

No, that's taken care of. This would clearly make reloading illegal:

The many years goal of the communistnazi gun grabbers has been and is, to eventually completely disarm ALL worker peasants in the U.S. :fire:

Inch by inch by inch by inch by inch. Step by step by step by step by step by step.

That way, they can establish their long sought after Great Brave New Marxist Socialist Police State Utopia... in which, all worker peasants will be equal, but some worker peasants will be more equal than others.

I like how the complete absence of any practical way to actually accomplish these things doesn't stop them from proposing the law.

Next proposed bill:

1. All registered gun owners shall build a step ladder to the moon.
2. Said step ladder shall be constructed entirely of marshmallows and emblazoned with all appropriate safety warnings.

Let's try to get that one passed Bart, and see what they say. We'll tell them it's for the children. Except replace "registered gun owners" with "elected politicians".

That's why people go to the range: to dispose of ammunition. Firearms are ammunition disposers.

I wound up here before Chp 180 became law and put down roots.

The decision to pick up & move becomes more difficult once buying and selling a house, relocating your children and finding another employer are brought into the mix.

Once you get west of RT. 290/190 it's like a different world.

On the plus side we are only ten miles from relatives in a free state.
