Still trying to figure out why there is 'deep, lizard-scale patterning' on a pistol named for a type of bird...

Velociraptor. It's a dinosaur.

I opine: ugly is better than boring.

I handled and shot one two weeks ago. I think it's a nice looking pistol and was certainly a good shooter. The slide on the Gov't is blued like an old Colt.

Each to his own I guess.

Pronunciation: 'rap-t&r, -"tor
Function: noun
Etymology: New Latin Raptores, former order name, from Latin, plural of raptor plunderer, from rapere
: BIRD OF PREY

It's a bird, an ugly bird!

Velociraptors had feathers too, so it's a moot point anyway.

They were also 6 feet long, not tall. Maybe 2 feet tall. Jurassic Park got them wrong.

In any case, that's really ugly. And it's not even that original. Ed Brown does an ugly scale pattern on the Kobra guns.

Enough with the velociraptor semantics already.

(Besides, it's common knowledge that velociraptors were actually .357.)

:p

I don't think it would look as bad if the grips were black - very dark black. I don't really like the cheese grater serrations, either. What does that have to do with raptors? It still looks better than some other pistols. I'd take one if I got a good deal on it.

I'm not going to buy a Kimber II under any circumstances. I think the Raptor line is probably a smashing success: whether or not people buy Raptors, they're probably much more likely to buy Kimbers of some other kind. Bring them in to look at Corvettes, sell them Chevettes.

Got one, love it.

I bought one of the Kimber Pro Raptors (4") about 9 months ago. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love its looks and it is the most accurate 1911 I have ever shot.
