Can some with this program give me some insight on this load;
cartridge, 44spl
case, w-w trimmed length 1.155"
primer, Fed 150
bullet, Nosler 200gr JHP
powder and charge, 8.6gr of AA#5
COL, 1.458"

I'm curious what the PSI is ?

I have loaded this combo with 8.4gr of AA#5 with no pressure signs in a S&W 696 and I'm wondering if I can go more.

Thanks
jj

Looks like about 13k PSI, yielding 1000 fps with 8.6 gn.

Max load should be around 9.2gn of AA#5 resulting in 14.5k PSI, at 1065 fps.

Thanks cberge8,
I checked Accurate's data and they listed 8.0gr AA#5 max with a Nosler 200 jhp
Rem 2 1/2 col 1.490" psi 13,000
With my current load at 8.4gr and showing no signs of over pressure a will try 10rnds at 8.6gr and 5rnds at 8.8gr
Thanks again,
jj

Just to be on the safe side, you may want to verify your results with a chrony as you go, just to be sure.

There seems to be a dichotomy or better yet a trichotomy of load pressure limits for the 44spl, ammunition, powder and bullet makers must consider the oldest and weakest firearms to establish the pressure limits for this cartridge.
We see this with the 45 colt where Ruger and Contender data is different than a load for a 100+year old firearm.
