Just wondering what the pachmayr compac grips texture is like. Is it a softer or harder rubber? The factory rubber sp101 rubber grip likes to grab clothing. I was wondering if the pachmayrs do too. Thanks.

The Diamond Pro Series, are a bit softer and stickier (tackier?) than the standard Presentation/Gripper style grips.

I'm a fan of Pachmayr grips as well, particularly the Presentation grips for revolvers and Signature grips for semi-autos.

I have the diamond pro for my gp100. They're amazingly comfy. But way to tacky of a rubber and the top right flops to easy and let's the hammer pin shift. I ordered a set of pachmayr grippers for the gp100 and a set of compacs for the sp101. Bringing my total to 4 grips for the sp101 and 6 for the gp100...... Did try the lett compacts on the gp100 but sent them back because my pinky was just about hanging off and that doesn't work for a 6" gun, so have tried 7 grips actually. Some day I'll find the rights ones LOL

I have found that Pachmayrs for both revolvers and semi-autos to be relatively harder and less sticky than most similar type grips. That seem to also hold up very well over time; I have some that are getting close to being 30 years old (the ones on my Combat Commander are nearly 40!), and are still in great shape!

Yeah I think so too! The Pachmayrs on the Combat Commander came as a set: the grips, the flat mainspring housing, and the magazine. Put them on shortly after I bought the gun.

I bought a NOS Gripper off ebay for my GP100 and it's definitely much harder than the Diamond Pro. It fits the gun fairly well, but doesn't fit my hand. If you are trying for a high grip on the gun a Hogue is better. I'll try anything for $19 shipped, heh.

Definitely true of the classic Pachmayrs. But some of the new versions introduced since the Lyman buyout are tacky, like the Diamond Pro grip for the GP100.

I have a Pachmayr Compac on my 642. I find it the perfect compromise between soft for comfort and slick for sliding out of a pocket. About 8 years of 5-day pocket carry and it'll show significant wear on the high spots, but still perfectly functional.

The S&W boot grip fell apart in the first warm summer. . . buy the Pachmayr.

Yep that's what I paid, should be here this week. Worth a try. I still have mixed feeling on high grip. I know it allows better control. But doesn't seem as comfortable to me . I don't shoot competition. Just occasional target and hunting.

I had to laugh at myself when I read your post. I had just scrolled down to read the text and see the first photo and I thought, bannockburn should know this is not a Combat Commander! My face flushed when I got down to the second photo.:D

The Pachmayrs on my AMT Hardballer are not sticky at all and they are 30 years old.

You fellers got a deal! I spent $22 on mine!

I have a Hogue MonoGrip on my SP101 and I love it! Much better than the factory rubber and I can get all 3 of my fingers (sans the trigger finger, of course!) on the grip. Same hardness as a Pachmayr.

Sorry about that! I should have mentioned that the 30+ year old Pachmayrs were on the Hi-Power (I truly didn't like the factory plastic grips, the ones with the thumbrests, and promptly swapped them out for the 2 piece Pachmayrs). I think over time the older Pachmayr grips tend to "dry out" somewhat and are less sticky than when they were new.

Do the gripper and the diamond pro have a similar shape /feel in the hand? Excluding the actual rubbers texture

No.

The Gripper has finger grooves. The Diamond Pro is more like the Compac line but a bit larger than the similar Compac.
