In about 15 minutes from this post, Fox News is going to have a segment on the failure of gun control laws. Don't know more.

Edit: Okay, this must be one of those, "stay tuned for the next two hours" teasers. I just saw they said "coming up" which often means after the next one or two commercial breaks. Anyway, I'm on flex time today for work, so I'm gonna stick around the house to watch it and will report on the segment later.

Edited to add time disclaimer.

Just watched the segment. I thought it was fair overall. The study was from the National Academy of Sciences. It basically said that based on available data, it couldn't find any instances of gun control laws making a difference .

The gun conrol proponent interviewed said that meant we need more studies, and accused the NRA and others of blocking more studies.

Of the text popups during the segment, one of the interesting things I saw was that they showed a Gallup poll stat that said only 11% of the population wants less restrictive laws, immediately followed by a text popup showing the "34 states with CCW" stat. One would think that would "red flag" the 11%.

If Gallop where to call me with questions about my morals ethics and gun ownership and usage I am probably going to be dishonest with all the questions. If my state senetor or represenatives want to know (my state rep send out an agenda survey so instead I will make an apointment in his office and carry as there is no rule or law barring legal liscensed carry in the state legislature or office building in Indiana) I will be honest and point out again the Jim Crow origins of all gun control.
I could not catch the segment as I am at work and on the fly updating the player application on the dls line we have. Still surprises me I can reach THR at all through the oc3s and several firewalls.

I caught the last 30 seconds of what I think may have been this segment. The pro-gun rights advocate was Jim Wallace, the new head of the Massachusetts Gun Owners Action League (GOAL). I unfortunately did not hear much of what he said. The anti- was Michael (?) Beard, I think, and his last statement was something to the effect that the government needs to know where all the guns out there came from, who has them, and some other inane things.

Only on fox

On the righthand side of the website there are links under "only on fox" a small snippet piece "Unarming San Fransisco".

I saw the whole thing.

Basically, the new study demolishes all the myths about "gun control". Here is the full report:
http://www.nap.edu/books/0309091241/html/

In typical left-wing fashion, the anti attacked the messenger rather than discuss the issue. He then went on about "needing more information", seems to me that they made themselves look pretty rediculous considering they've been crusading against guns for a couple decades, now they need "more information" on it? Funny how that works.

The GOAL guy was right on message, and did a pretty good job calling the anti guy out. He had the facts about how Massachusett's harsh gun laws haven't made a bit of difference in crime rates, rather the crime rates went up. The anti didn't respond at all to what the GOAL guy said.

The reporter made an ass of herself with her last question, some kind or rambling question to the GOAL guy about "perceptions" or some other nonsense about guns.

Looking through Google at the anti websites, their talking point seems to be that there's "no evidence" that CCW decreases crime, so we should ban it. Quite a difference from their past dogma that CCW causes crime.

Fox segment

Good Cliff Notes Rebar, and yeah, that last question made no sense. I find it interesting that when CCW is enacted there is a noticeable drop in VICAPS according to the FBI stats, but no one seems to want to admit that. Strange to say the least... :neener:
