I just cancelled an order I made 3 weeks ago with R Guns.

Called them and asked if they had any lower receiver parts kits in stock, figuring they probably didn't. They said they did, gave them my CC # and said it'd be about 5 days to ship as they were behind. No problem, understand.

A week and a half goes by, no parts. Call them up, they tell me they're really behind. Okay, no big deal.

Called them today, they're out and waiting on parts. I asked them about the 2 they told me they had in stock, their answer:

"Well, we didn't have them."

I told them I didn't appreciate them lying to me as my first question to them was if they had them in stock. Their reply:

"You wanna cancel?"

Yes, I cancelled.

I'm less mad about them not having the parts, I don't like being lied to. The guy sounded like he really didn't give a damn if he sold anything or not. Now I've got to call my CC company to make certain all charges come off and he doesn't try to screw me with a 20% restocking fee on a part he doesn't have in stock.

Last time I use R guns for anything again.

Companies like that dont care so why should you. Buy from one of the many stores online.
I know what you mean though it is bothersome.

I'm afraid with all the panic buying going on, this is pretty common right now. I've had a similar problem with more than one company in the last few weeks.

Firstly, R-guns is a good reputable company, but they aren't Amazon.com. I've ordered from them in the past with absolutely no problems at all, but I don't know them personally, never even talked to them on the phone. I do think it's a great disservice for people to malign people and company's over some imagined slight.

Now I know you aren't one of the people panic buying, but you just happened to want AR parts at a time when thousands and thousands of "other" people are panic buying. I won't try to educate you on running a small business and getting overwhelmed, but they did not "lie" to you.

Did they make a mistake, maybe, but maybe when they talked to you they had a little sheet of paper saying they had the items in stock. Then when they get down to your name, on the list of people not panic buying, they have run out. Mistakes happen with most of us regular folk.

Glad you are perfect, but at some point in life you need to understand that the rest of us probably can't measure up to your lofty standards.

No inventory system is perfect, and at least they were up front with you about the situation.

Your call, but I would probably not be as ticked off as you see to be.

I'd like to know where you ordered from (after you cancelled with R-Guns) that got you the parts faster in this panic-buying season.

I believe why the original post was upset was because 3 weeks had gone by only to find he /they had wasted his time. Had he known the parts where not available at Rguns he would have kept on looking.

Mistake? Probably. I say dont take it personaly just move on to the next online gun store.

Browningguy,

I suggest a couple of you re-read my post above.

I WAS expecting them to be out, or at least a delay. THEY told me the parts were in stock and would ship in 5 days. I suspected something was wrong when I called today as instead of asking my name they just asked me what I ordered.

They lied to me about availability and lied about shipping. I hope this isn't your idea of running any business.

I've bought several guns from them right in their store in Carpentersville. Never had a problem, but I have never tried out their online operation because it is just easier to stop in. Frankly, I like the guys. Sorry about your trouble.

"Then when they get down to your name, on the list of people not panic buying, they have run out. Mistakes happen with most of us regular folk."

Then they should have picked up the phone and called him. Or e-mailed him. Not ignored him until he called.

It's all understood about the buying frenzy and all but I can tell you, I work in retail and this is/was poor customer service. So much so that had he called me about this and complained, I would have had the rep contact him immediately and #1 appologized (for the harsh and disrespectful "Wanna cancel"; totally uncalled for) and #2 explained what happened (in the event that it really happened as Browninguy suggests ("but maybe when they talked to you they had a little sheet of paper saying they had the items in stock. Then when they get down to your name, on the list of people not panic buying, they have run out.")) All associate actions are reflections of my company. This particualar customer will now share his experience with other potential customers and you all know how that goes.

I agree that jaholder1971 be patient and all but he did explain that he was. That the thing that did it was actually the lack of customer service. jaholder1971, I would contact the manager since he may not be aware of the rep his company is gaining from reps like this and he may be able to correct the issue in the customer service aspect. Parts well....you know.

Poor customer service, maybe, but a lie no.

I don't really understand what the man on the phone could have done to make you happy other than say they were sorry.

they refunded your money, what good does waisting more time on this do for you or Rguns.

The lie was that they had it in stock so could ship fairly quickly. Here the OP may have had a pressing need for the parts which he didn't get. That may have caused a cascade of problems.

Frex, if I need a part for my bike due to me taking a trip and the vendor says I'll have it in 4 days but then delays until it affects my departure date, that's more than just an inconvenience. Here it was just an annoyance but the OP was lied to to get his order. He'd not have placed it had the vendor told the truth.

One item in the OP that appears not to be addressed is that they CHARGED his credit card. There should have been no charges until the item was actually purchased. His annoyance is understandable. If you charge me for a purchase I expect to have BOUGHT something not a promise. If they attempt to charge a restock fee I would challenge the original charge.

Some are getting it done. I ordered some 8mm from AIM, great price and I love doing business with them.
It was my understanding they were way behind and my order would be delayed for some time. My ammo
was delivered within 5 days of the order:)

To the OP:

Why would they "lie" to you when they didn't have the part? It's not like they could get away with charging you and not sending you anything. Cool down and examine the facts. The guy didn't have the part. Maybe his inventory wasn't up to date. Mistakes happen.

Well, they had a chance to say something differently the second time I called, instead of telling me they're way behind on shipping.

If the guy didn't have the part, why did I have to wait 5 minutes on hold while he checked?

Once they told me not only they didn't have the part, it was on backorder, you'd think they might make an apology instead of "You wanna cancel?"

After going back to their website today I see what they're doing: Overselling AR parts and keeping folks at bay, claiming they're behind on shipping until they get the parts in. Funny how they didn't mention this in either their ad in SGN nor in their conversation with me.

Yeah, I don't think they're deceitful, just not a very well run business. Based on my experiences with them, that's enough to make me go elsewhere.

Hmm...

I ordered from them abt 3 weeks ago (seems longer but...) and the fellow who answered the phone listed the items still in stock at that moment.

I haven't heard either, but i am going to give him 8 yes eight weeks, given the huge volume of sales right now, before I give a small reminder.

But, I have no pressing need for the parts.

We'll see I suppose.

Sounds about right.

At this point, there's probably 10 people lined up to take your place in line.
