I recently had a problem with the Olympic arms manufacturer!

About six months ago I purchased a 9mm AR-15 that came with 1 mag. I wanted atleast 2 more so I contacted OLY arms and ordered them. 3 1/2 weeks go by and still no mags.

First phone call: They said that they have not made them yet, waiting on thier shop to produce.
This blew my mind because, 1. I was not informed that they had to produce anything at time of purchase 2. The mags are just old sten mags with a mag well block welded on. but what could I do right.

Second phone call: 3 weeks after the first still no mags, thier shop is way behind, still what can I do.

Third phone call: 2 weeks after the second, They inform me that they have no record of me ordering any such mags :what: NO RECORD at this point I'm mad so I tell them cancel the order I will get my mags else where.

2 1/2 months after the Third phone call: I recieve 2 mags delivered by UPS from OLY arms:banghead: I call OLY arms and they inform me they did send them as well as charge my CC:fire: However If I send the mags back (at my expense) they will refund my money.

Now I'm not sure if I want to return the mags 1. I still could use them 2. It will cost me to send them back 3. If I can't trust them to send me the mags on time, or keep track of my order, and then even cancel my order how can I trust them to refund my money........

Buyers beware when ordering from Olympic Arms

Long time.

I paid for my 16" Plinker Plus on 20 OCT, and picked it up on 6 DEC. It was originally promised in 1 week.

I don't know what has happened with Olympic Arms.
Maybe they bit off more than they could handle with the Whitney Wolverine and the color case hardened "Westerner" 1911 pistols that few people have actually seen or I don't know.

I used to use Olympic Match AR15 barrels regularly.

I have now received two barrels that did not have the chamber area completely finished.

The chambers had only been reamed with a chamber rougher only and the barrel extension installed even though the barrels were advertised as fully headspaced and ready to assemble and test.
I did not get to the point where I actually fitted them to an upper so I also wonder if the barrel extensions had been properly installed too.

Anyway, inspect carefully before you lay your money down.

OlyArms quality control seems to go up and down , they taken a beatin from owners on AR15.com for years and to be honest OlyArms doesn't seem to be all that interested in the retail market . They make the vast bulk of their money selling to other retail manufacturers and government contractors here and overseas . OlyArms facilities are about a 30 minute drive from me and I know of only one store that stocks their ARs , the rest of the places I 've check generally carry Rock River Arms or DSArms ARs . At one time I did own one of their HBAR (which was of EXCELLENT quality ) and a T48 FAL clones (which had numerous issues with the magwell and receiver finishing) . Personally if I bought another one of their ARs I would buy it from a local shop so I could inspect it to avoid the hassle you just experienced

I ordered a lower from them in Feb '06. I still haven't gotten it.

I know of someone else who order a .300 Whisper upper from them back in March, who also hasn't received it.

I've heard rumor that they had a big order from the USAF (10k rifles) that pushed everything else, especially major componentry, onto the back burner.

The reasoning I've been given the times I went into the store was that they were back-ordered with orders for complete rifles (which make them more $$), and they would get to lowers/uppers when they'd cleared the backorders.
