I'm not sure what everyone else uses, but i use slide-glide (light visc), it seems to do alot of good and stays in place unlike oils. I know some folks like TW-25 which is what some gun compaines put on their guns when they ship them out of the factory.
I just got some of the Berryhills lube and it is some kind of good stuff. Gun Butter needs reapplying more often, but will make your slide feel like it is on ball bearings. They are all good lubes.
Of course, you could always just buy a quart of Mobile 1 synthetic oil. Many folks swear by it.

I got a jar of this stuff, and it's gonna last me for a LONG time. This has to be the best bargain going. I just wiped a thin coat on w/ a q-tip, and the pistol is smoother than it's ever been.
i use Gunslick on anything that slides. rails, barrel bushing, hammer. everything else gets mobil 1 or moly oil. sometimes, i add stp to the gunslick, depending on the time of year, and what i am doing. for a long range trip in warm weather, i use the stp/guslick. for carry, no way. i dont want to be trying to clean that mess out of my clothes. in the winter, just mobil 1. i use 0w20.
I had a problem with gunslick oil on my steel firearms in the cold. It turned thick and that was a problem since the firearms had a hard time cycling. In the cold I stick with liquid CLP, it seems to be a lot better.
Been using it for years and love it. As someone said about the grease, it can collect and become difficult to clean. However, I've often found that this is caused by people using too much. A thin layer is all you need. Get it on your fingers and spread it out evenly. Wipe of any excess. Put it together and cycle the action a few times. If you see grease starting to come out anywhere, you're using too much. If you take it back apart and see piles of it, you're probably using too much.
A tube of this stuff should last you a loooonnnnnnggggg time. I've probably only purchased two tubes in three years.
I use One lube w/teflon. It's a pump spray and it's served me well on my semi autos. It's lightweight and doesn't thicken when it's cold out plus you still have protection from the teflon when the liquid carrier is gone. I always notice a smoother operation when chambering a round after applying it on a new gun.
I think I've been persuaded enough by the 'Mobile 1 crowd' that I'm going to try it out. The price of one quart is impossible to beat with any actual made-for-gun lubricant. If it works, I'm sold.
