I have a Colt Mustang that I bought used a few days back. I really likes FMJ but some loads of JHP are not chambering real well. I am thinking that the ramp may need a bit of modification & polishing. How much can be done to the ramp in this gun?

This is the ramp

Use some Flitz, Mothers, or Semi Chrome and HAND polish the ramp. Hand polishing will smooth it up. A dremel will remove metal/reshape. Both bad. Easy to do.

Do you have the problem with every magazine? You might want to check your mag springs as well.

I have two Mustangs, one with a polished ramp, and one without. Both feed Golden Sabers without problems. But I did have some issues with an older mag in the past that affected hollowpoints (Federal). The heavier springs from Wolff solved the problem.

The Wolff "+5%" springs can be found here:

Thanks Much............the more I play with this thing the more I think the problems are the springs.

are those Novak style sites on your Mustangs? How do you like them?

Yes, they are Novak's. The stock sights on the Mustang are almost unusable. That doesn't bother most, but I really like being able to use sighted aim if at all possible, and my eyes aren't what they used to be. The Novak's are fantastic. The sight picture is almost as good as the sights on my full size Kimbers. I liked them so much on the Pocketlite I put them on the steel Mustang I use for the range. I had mine installed locally by GG&G, but Novak's isn't a whole lot more to have them done at their shop:

Novak .380 Sights

I am also a southpaw, and had C&S' ambi safety installed on both. May not seem like a big deal on a pistol this small, but for me it really makes it a lot easier to put into action. C&S still sells them, along with aluminum triggers like the SMA on the Pocketlite.

C&S Ambi Safety

As you can guess, I really like Colt's little .380s :D

Zonamo? They look sweet... are they G10? Who makes them, and where can I get a set?
