Range costs

$80/year for NRA members, $90/yr non-nra members.

There shouldn't be ANY non-nra gun owners with this present crop of "people" in charge of the government.

indoor range here $8/ HALF hour, $4/ HALF hour per extra shooter; not yearly options or anything. Outdoor range 45 minutes away has free range use if you buy ammo there, which is of course, overpriced. Last time I went 2 years ago it was $10 a box (20) of cheap .223. Nice range though.

All the other places around here you have to pay a huge initiation fee, have a sponsor, pay a huge yearly fee, etc.

If anyone knows of anywhere to shoot around the Fredericksburg, virginia area that won't cost me an arm and a leg, please send me a message. I tried the Izaak Walton league which has a range 10 minutes from here, but can't get them to call me back.:fire:

I just joined a members-only indoor club. It's close to my house, and not a public range, both a plus. $115 / year annual membership dues, and no lane fees. 50 foot long gun range + a separate 50 foot pistol range. It's a very old building, so the 50 foot pistol lanes are restricted to sub 900 fps muzzle velocity, and no jacketed rounds. So, I usually just shoot .38 sp. Blazers or wadcutters if I can find them. I like to finish off with a box of .357 magnum loads. For that, they do have a 7-meter trap on lane 1. Limiting, but works for me. I also get 24-hour access with my pass key. Meeting room, kitchen with fireplace. It's a cool old place with nice folks as members. They do ask for donations when you use the trap though. It does take a regular beating with the hot jacketed loads.

Wow, these prices are nuts.

If I'm willing to drive just over an hour I can shoot all day from 25-300 yards for free.

If all i want to do is shoot from 7-100 yards or check out a couple reloads pretty quickly, I can drive 10 minutes to where it's supposedly $3/hour/booth. You pay $3 to get in and pay the balance on leaving, but I've never paid a balance on leaving. They supply ear plugs and safety glasses if you need them, and lend out spotting scopes- all included in the $3.

They also have a trap range that's- you guessed it- $3/round, a free archery range, and a shotgun pattern range.

God bless the Missouri Department of Conservation.

In the great Blue State of CT:
It's $125 a year for a membership to an outdoor range that I can shoot at unlimited on Weds, Sats, and Suns only, noon to about sunset. You can't really use this range in Dec, Jan, Feb, or March - it's either closed or too cold.
In the cold months, there's a local indoor range that charges $14 per half hour.
A little less local, but a lot nicer, is another indoor range that charges $26 per hour.

I guess I got the best deal. I shoot at a private range we built for ourselves on my best friends ranch. It costs me nothing but gasoline to drive out there, which is about 15 minutes from my house. Year around shooting and lifetime membership.

The range I use most often is $20 lifetime membership and $10 a visit ... you get one medium size target with the $10, full-size silouettes are $1.50 ... they have 7, 15 and 25 yrd pistol positions, a long-range rifle area (don't shoot rifle so I don't know the distance) and also a skeet and defensive shotgun range .. all outdoors, they sell ammo, a few handguns, lots of accessories ...

What michiganfan said. I think at mine it's $11 for half an hour and $16 for an hour...and that's among the cheapest in my area.

Also, around here I'd skip an outdoor range simply because I don't see a point in shivering my way through a shooting session for a large portion of the year. Hard to shoot when all bundled up and hard to relax when every muscle is tensed up from the cold!

Hi, Just need to stay married to My wife and be nice to My In-Laws ( Both easy things to do for Me ) as I have My own outdoor range set-up at the Inlaws . Local gun shop is $200 per year and You Must be a NRA member . Meals and coffee and restroom much better at the inlaws LOL ! ...WVleo

I usually use the range in my back yard, but when I can't these are my options.

1) Drive 70 miles to pay $8.50 per hour. (200 yard rifle)
2) Drive 45 miles to pay $20 per day.(300 yard rifle)
3) Drive 60 miles to pay $25 per 4 hour block. (300 yard rifle)
4) Drive 15 miles to a 25 yard indoor pistol range and pay $14 per hour.

The "Missouri Conversation Corp" ranges are cheap ($3 hour) but only allow 1 round/3 second (strictly enforced) and you only shoot 30-40 minutes per hour, due to "10 minute" shoot and 5-9 minute "reset."

The local indoor range is $25/year, $9 day (members) or $15 day, non-members. Gun rental is $5. Firing is limited is 1 round/second.

OKC Blessed

Well, living in OKC we are blessed with a very nice indoor range complex (25 yard handgun 30 yard rifle ranges) and membership renewals run $125 plus tax each year. Unlimited range time plus 2 large targets come with each visit.(family memberships are only a little more and worth every cent, provided you shoot often. They even have an air-rifle range, kinda unique.)

Folks not purchasing memberships run about $10 per visit, still unlimited time and 2 large targets.

I'm also a member of Tri-city gun club and memberships run from $70 to $100+ depending on membership level and status. It is a private, outdoor range with awesome facilities. The club also supports 2A advocacy and introduction of women and youth to shooting sports. (Shotgun range, pistol plinking range, bow course and rifle range up to 200 yards.)

OKC has so many nice options, these are simply the two I landed on for my own needs.

Outdoor range has multiple rifle ranges, long range gongs, metal hangers, several pistol ranges for both targets and hanging metal plates and a clays area. All this for $20/year + $8 per head (including guests) per day. other ranges and activities for premium memberships.

Sheesh, I'm glad I go to the range I go to.

It's $2 per visit (which lasts 2.5-3 hours) or 50 cents per visit if you're an NRA member. It is a handgun-caliber only range and only has 5 50-feet booths, so I guess it isn't much. Works for me though!
