I wasn’t sure where to post this but I wanted to share my experience with rangefinding. On many days shooting in the field I find my “economy” priced rangefinders inadequate for distances over 500 yards. I use an app called map points for ranging. It is very accurate, and useful for hunting. It can be used to measure all sorts of things including acreage.

HuntStand is the one I use on my phone. It has mapping, as well as wind forecasts and a host of other features. Best of all, it is free.

I’m going to try those free apps out!
I’ve been disgusted with range finders in general. For what I do the mil dot reticle seems to be the ticket. I’ve been practicing for 6 months or more and I’m getting pretty dang good using the dots to range. Slowly moving all my scopes to mil dot.

I just downloaded Ranger. Looks very cool! I'll try it on the golf course tomorrow, and the rifle range next time I am there. Thanks for the tip!
