Where are you at? Shops around here are full of used Glocks, any size or caliber you want, for $350.

I don't pay any attention to the used Rugers although they're all over the place also. They don't do anything for me, they seem to go for mid 200's.

Sig SP2022. I'm curious to what mixed reviews you have heard on this gun? My experience with both German and American have been great. Are you sure your not thinking of the P250?

Try cheaperthandirt.com I think u maybe able to find one. Ive ordered 3 guns so far saved $800. $5-600 is a better bet to find a real good one. U can sometimes find a Ruger P90 under $400. I own one. Very solid guns.

Since I have both a 3rd generation S&W 9mm pistol and a Ruger p95..............I would recommend one of them!:D

knicks118......... It was a "scratch and dent sale at gunenvy.com. Most of them are NIB and you can't tell they aren't full priced guns. They are my favorite LGS, and a CZ dealer and i'll bet they have sold 20 or 25 P-07's at that price .

Seems like the newer SD9 would be a better buy than the P95. Cheaper at most places ($300 right now at Academy). Two more rounds in the standard mag. Almost five ounces lighter. Reportedly the SD9 trigger is infinitely better than the Sigma. I've actually been debating between the P95 and the SD9 for a while now.

9thchild,
That is a great price for the SD9. I have not had the chance to handle one yet. Since its a newer pistol, I personally would stay away for a couple years to see the bugs worked out, if any, just my 2-cents. Have you shot either the SD9 or the P95?...thoughts?

Witness P 9mm

Buds now has the Witness P with 4 1/5" barrel for $291 shipped!!!

I bought one of these recently and am more then pleased. My gun eats anything I put through it. Mostly I shoot cast bullet reloads for the range. And of the 500 or so rounds I have fired so far, not one hiccup, not one! Accuracy is one ragged hole at 10 yards if you do your part. Three dot sights are very good and offer rapid target acquisition. This is my first poly gun, but the Witness feels very solid. Ergonomics put the Ruger to shame (of course that is a personal preference.)

Of course many people don't like EAA, the importers of the Tanfoglio line of Witness pistols. But for the price, the durability and the inherent accuracy, that's a small risk for me.

Check them out!:D

I was in the same boat not that long ago. I didn't own a 9mm yet and knew it was cheapest, so I knew I wanted 9mm. I started looking around (my budget was more like $350). I went to some stores and gun shows to familiarize myself with all of the options. TONS of Ruger P95s (as well as 89s and some of the others that are basically identical to the P95) and Smith & Wesson Sigmas. I hated the Sigma's trigger and the size of the P95 (I have tiny hands despite being 6'1" 250).

So, I was specifically on the lookout for an Arcus 9mm (Hi-Power clone), a Sig 2022 (don't like the 250s), or anything else that caught my eye for under $350.

Well, one vendor had NIB Taurus 24/7 Pro pistols on sale for $319+Tax. The trigger is a little different, but scores better than the Sigma. Additionally, they had a 5" barrel model that was still scores at fitting my hand than the P95. I kept looking for a Sig 2022 (they fit me better than just about everything I've ever held) but didn't find one for less than $399, and couldn't talk anyone down. I also didn't find any Arcus Hi-Powers. So, I bought the 24/7 Pro DS LS. It has been a FANTASTIC range gun! I've gotten very used to the trigger and it's the easiest pistol to shoot accurately that I've ever used. In the first 100 rounds or so, I had perhaps 3-5 failures, but it's been flawless for many hundreds of rounds since then. It goes with me to the range every single time.

So, look into the Taurus 24/7 Pro! :) With your budget $50 higher, you have a lot more options available to you, though.

I don't know what your local used market is like but where I live there are a lot of used handguns in the local classifieds. It is not real hard to find a number of pretty good guns for $400. Various glocks, and XDs, are seen with good regularity at or below $400. It might take even more watching but I've also seen M&Ps, Steyr M series,

Other guns that are avialable at the price that may or may not interest you and which in scanning this thread I didn't notice mention of. The Sig P6s (I'd personally much rather have the SP2022 or spend $50-100 more for a P226), and hi power clones.

I would skip the Sigma that some have mentioned as well as the SR9. Range guns should have decent triggers, and IMHO neither of those guns do.

If I were going to buy new I'd look real hard at the SP2022.

There are a lot of options you'd likely be happy with.

A few others that haven't been mentioned but are options include the turkish clones of the Beretta 92 and perhaps some of the Armscor (RIA et al) 9mm 1911s.
