I ran roughly my 1000th round through my Beretta 92FS last Saturday and I don't think I could have picked a better gun for myself. So far I've ran Blazers, Winchester, Sellier and Bellot, and Wolf through this thing without so much as a hiccup. I know it's probably not a big deal, but I'm proud that I am to the point where I can put all 15 rounds in the center of a silhouette target without much of a problem. I even tried it one handed firing as fast as I could and got 10 of th e 15 in the center. What a fantastic firearm.

On a side note...

There was a group of about five guys at the range when I got their shooting what looked like XD45s which just terrible range etiquette. They didn't pickup brass and throwing their used targets on the floor.

...AND IF THAT WASN'T BAD ENOUGH.....

These dude are racking their slides with their fingers on the trigger and not always pointing them down range when they are doing it. They are walking around the range with guns in hand and fingers are on the triggers. This didn't go on for very long but it was kind of unnerving. At one point they rented a Desert Eagle .50 and, at one point, I look up from doing something and find it pointed at me while the guy is racking the side... WITH HIS FINGER ON THE DAMN TIGGER!!!! :fire:

I know I should have reported them sooner but that was it for me. I started packing my stuff up (not because I was leaving but because I didn't like how some of them were eyeing my stuff) and was about to go upstairs and tell the guy at the counter but they took off before I could.

:cuss:

I heard a story the other day told to me by a retired Marine, firearms instructor, gunsmith and all around good guy. He was teaching a class of the use of fully automatic weapons. He visually showed the class how to load the firearm and make it ready for firing. He then picked one of the older men in the class and instructed him to pick up the firearm and told him to simply stand there and hold it while he explained one more thing. The man quickly made the firearm ready for fire without instruction and then spun around and swept the entire class and the instructor with the muzzle of the firearm. The instructor quickly and decisively drew his handgun and ordered the man down. The guy was shocked.

Some people just don't think that safety with firearms is a real concern. "Hey, my finger is on the trigger but I am not going to pull it.... its safe." Those types of people need to be taught a lesson before they injure someone. It isn't a chance of injuring someone but the inevitable. It will happen sooner or later and with some people the only way to stop it in its tracks is to shock the living hell out of that person.

I have a 92 inox and I love that gun. You picked a great weapon it is very reliable and very very accurate. I'm lucky that I live out in the boonies and don't have to put up with people like you do at ranges. I just step outside and start shooting and I get to decide who is allowed to shoot on my range.

I have the 92fs compact. I bought it used. It is so reliable you could call it boring. I've never once had it fail to fire and feed and eject perfectly, something I cannot say for any other of my guns.

I like the 92fs but the one problem is that the grips are kind of fat for my hand, I have smaller hands, and so the 1911 or other thinner grips fit me better.
The trigger on the 92fs is good, it's smooth and consistent, but I like quicker the trigger break on my S&W 1911 better.

I'm looking into a CZ75 at some point. But it would be hard to improve on the reliability of the 92FS.

The 92fs is a great pistol...you made a fine choice! I've had my 2 since '92 :D and I've been a happy Beretta owner since then ;) Thanks for the report ;)

That's exactly how my father feels about his 92f Compact. For some reason, I can't seem to shoot it very accurately, but man that is one great gun.

Pirate, the 92fs is a good gun. I have over 2000 through my oldest, favorite one and expect to put several more thousand more through it. Good luck with your 92.

If you are looking for beauty then INOX is the way to go! My brother has it and I am contemplating getting one. Just waiting for a good deal.

Beretta 92/96 Are Very Good Guns

My experience with the BERETTA 92 and 96 line have been very positive.

Out of the box, they are very reliable and accurate. Those that I have handled had a very good double action trigger pull. Side by side, the BERETTA was better than any of my SIG pistols when firing double action.

My only real complaint is that they are LARGE guns. The smallest of the line, the BERETTA 92M compact is still longer that the mid size standard set by the GLOCK 19 and they are heavy.

For most of my shooting, they are one of my first choices.

I've owned several 92's & it's the one 9mm I seem to come back to; currently I have an M-9 commercial variant; I've got @ 650 rounds thru this one so far; bought some of them Italian contracted mags that are distributed thru Beretta USA...basically a 20 round factory grade mag for $25 :) it's fun to have the 2 20 rounders & 2 25 rounders loaded up and just shoot really quick at the end of a range session...sometimes makes people stop shooting since they hear an endless string of shots goin off ;)

The only downside to the 92FS is that I like it so much that I'm having a hell of a time picking out my next handgun. I'm trying to find something that fits me as well but I'm not sure I'll ever find something. :)
