I test drove my new Rami yesterday. Put 100 WWB 115 gr. 9mm FMJ through her.. and 10 rounds 115 gr. Olympia FMJ. Not one hickup. Here is my report.

I've been shooting my S&W Stainless Model 686 357 mag. with a 6 inch barrel for over 10 years now. Before I bought my new Rami 9mm, I thought I wanted a Springfield Armory XD in 9mm. My first range report with the XD and Glock follows.

My range doesn't carry any CZs. They did have an XD in .40 cal and a glock model 17 in 9mm. I rented both guns and bought 50 rounds of 9mm and 50 rounds of .40 S&W. I had never fired an autoloader before.

I brought my 357 to the range and decided to see if I still had good aim and control with it. Ran the target out to 25 feet and proceeded to put 6, tight, within the bull’s eye.

OK.. cool.. still got the aim and control, so I loaded the XD with .40 S&W ammo and fired at the target. Nothing hit the bull. Shots were all over the place, but in the black. No group whatsoever, unless you call 12 inches a group.. *grinning*. Hmmmm, something seems wrong here. I grabbed the glock, loaded it with 9mm ammo and shot at the target. Worse than the XD for me. Some shots were not even in the black. Group, over 14 inches at 25 feet... I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with these pistols.

I continued shooting until I had shot the 50 rounds in each caliber. Nothing spectacular.. in fact not good shooting at all. No tight groups, no bull’s-eyes. (Oh, I know the bad shooting was attributed to the shooter and not the weapon.)

I took the XD and glock back to the counter and rented a Beretta 9mm steel automatic. Shot a lot better with the Beretta. Some groups, not particularly good groups but better than with the XD or Glock. Was starting to find the bull when I ran out of ammo.

I was really wanting that XD in 9mm. I was all set to buy one because I was impressed with the testing done and how it stood up to torture, but my range time convinced me otherwise.

To make a long story a bit shorter... I finally decided on the Rami 9mm for concealability and for CZs reputation and the fact that it was heavier than the XD or Glock and made from alloy.

My range time yesterday was phenomenal. What a wonderful little shooter the Rami is. Tight groups, almost always at 8 o'clock... I was shooting low and to the left. Adjusted my aim high and to the right and hit the bulls eye with consistency.

The test target from CZ showed extreme accuracy at 25 meters (70 FEET!) so I must be doing something wrong to consistently shoot low and to the left at 25 feet.

110 rounds and not one miss feed or misfire. Recoil was very manageable. This gun was fun to shoot. I have large hands and shooting this small gun wasn't a problem like I thought it could be.

For me.. this was the correct gun to buy and I'm glad I bought it. Very accurate for a 3 inch barrel. I was amazed at how small the barrel is when I field stripped the automatic and removed the barrel.

Does anyone know how they fire the 6 test rounds at the target at the manufacturer's location? Does an employee shoot each gun before they send it out or is it fried from a machine? Such a tight group at 25 meters, wow!

Maybe someone know why my groups are low and to the left.

Thanks for all your help.

I checked my RAMI test target. Mine was fired at 15m, 6 shot "dispersion area" was 46mm or about 2 inches. Not a target gun, but certainly on par for a subcompact 9mm with a 3" barrel. They list a shooter ID number, so I'm guessing the groups are shot from a rest with a human shooter. I don't know, though.

Why am I not surprised a revolver shooter doesn't do well with a Glock or XD.

The cocked and locked Rami is a lot like shooting a revolver single action. I do a lot better witih the XD than the Glock, but none compare to a decent 1911 trigger (Rami included).

Someone who does a lot of shooting from a rest can approach a machine for accuracy. I suspect they use a "Ransom Rest" type arrangement if guns are rejected and reworked if they don't meet an accuracy spec.

Ahhh.. yes, your right Wally. I shot the Beretta and I now shoot my Rami single action from a cocked position.

Thanks Wally and Mulligan for the replly.
