Nothing fancy, basically a function run. And more than I expected, or was led to believe.

Popular input has the High Velocity being a minimum card to get in, but I decided to run almost everything I had through the unit.

Ammo tested: (in rough order of acceptability):
- Remington Thunderbolt
- Federal Lightning
- CCI Select
- CCI Standard
- Federal Premium Gold Medal
- CCI Green Tag
- Winchester Super X

I didn't bother bringing the Stingers, Yellowjackets, etc., because I figured they would have to work. So the bolts were the "fallback," and where I started.

First: this is far from a scientific test or report. Everything was baked & bathed in Militec-1 before even beginning. This may play a part.

Second: two guys I know with the Kimber Conversions swear they won't run at anything under "High Velocity."

Third: everything listed above ran --- BUT ...
... the low-velocity stuff only ran 100% with the barrel/action WARM. Loads that didn't cycle "cold" ran perfectly "hot." Of course, the zippier the better.

Still, I was impressed. Not thrilled with the sights, but I'm not a kid, and I'm spoiled by red dots.

Another fun part:
I started with a Springfield Armory GI Stainless receiver. Worked great, of course. Then, for the heck of it, switched to a Colt Defender receiver. The specs say the Conversion is good for 4" or 5" 1911s, but the sub-mini-Defender frame was 100% with it. Talk about featherweight!

Does the lube job have anything to do with the performance? Can't say, yet. The slower stuff smoked and threw brass verrry short, but it worked.

After several cool-down cycles (chilly indoor basement range, interspersed with a bag-o-guns outing), there is no question that the performance varies with the temperature of the metal: cold, don't expect wimpy stuff to work consistently; warm, most stuff works. Which is nice, because my "case of unloved .22s" rivals my "drawer of disliked holsters."

Still like my MkIII, but this thing is neat.

Neater still --- it was a Christmas present. When she gets her permit, she has a very tame .22 and a stainless 1911 waiting, as a "thankya!"

Hope some of this helps ... :D

Got one of those for Christmas as well and took it to the range and the only problem I had was the second shot would jam with Aguila subsonics then it ran fine. Had no problems with CCI minimags, federal campions, and stingers. Seems like it will be a great addition to my 1911.

Didn't even try subsonics, nice to hear that.

Seems like a nice accessory --- and !!!! --- a plus for getting HER (oh, capitals!!!!) into it! :D :D :D :D

Little dogs, big dogs ...
