So I have now had a couple trips to the range with this rifle. This rifle is a fine shooter. I am learning to be more consistant behind the trigger, and when I am the rifle is easily sub-moa off of a homemade rest. My best group yet is 0.6875 center to center, 5 shot group using 100gr Federal sp ($13.99 at Wally World!). Scope is a Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32ao, temp in the 80's with a breeze shooting ino the wind. I will post up a pic of the target tonight! Thus far I don't have a bad thing to say about this rifle. It has the Accutrigger which is incredibly sweet and breaks crisp, the bbl is free floated in a synthetic stock, has a three position safety and in my hands it feels very good. Anybody looking for a sub $500 rifle should look at the Savage line, seems to be an incredible bang for the buck!! (Pun intended, on both counts!!)

Savage Fanatic

I do not care what anyone says. I have a few Savage rifles and every one shoots sub-MOA groups. The only negative things that I have heard have come from SNOBS whom believe that you have to spend. I personally believe that some other manufacturers' guns are ugly, have horrible triggers, have cheap/flexible stocks or shoot like complete junk. I think Savage has very good quality for the money and has been the fore-runner on head-spacing, free-floating barrels, triggers (which everyone else was caught with their pants down) and now stock stiffness - not to mention offering rifles for lefties. I believe that you will have many more good days with your Savage.

I've only heard of a few issues with Savage rifles. I'm sure 98% of the owners are quite pleased with them. I've been happy with my Savage 10 rifle too. The link below is a range report on this rifle when it was new...I shot these targets during barrel brake in. I've yet to find the optimal load but the rifles shoots great!
