Here it is Thursday again and time for range therapy. Todays therapy tools will be an OM Single Six 22 and a Bowen conversion of an OMBH to 25-20. Small caliber day.

My therapy day is usually Saturday morning through the afternoon, with a black powder gun. I love to spend several hours at the range, taking my time and relaxing, loading up one of my black powder guns and savory each smokey shot. Now that it's about to get warm again, I'll be spending even more time doing what I love. :)

Today I spent part of lunch hour planning a Sunday afternoon session. Range bag is loaded with the gear, ammo stacked, the short list of rifles and pistols in my head.

The .30 carbine, M1 Garand, with a Colt .45 govt. to round out the day!

A real plus...the weather is expected to be nice! :D

Sunday afternoon is usually my therapy range day. A bit of a conundrum how a noisy gun range can be so peaceful and relaxing.

Did you ever notice,,,

If you move just one letter in each word,,,
the term Shooting Range becomes Soothing Anger.

I'll be taking a small selection of bolt-action .22's to the range this Saturday,,,
When I go I make a day of it as our range is a private club,,,
No range-master bellowing orders through a bullhorn.

I take a cooler of food and drink along with a lawn chair and a book,,,
Shoot a while - have a snack - shoot a while - relax and read,,,
Lather - Rinse - Repeat,,,
As often as desired. :D

Retirement is great, any day I choose is a range therapy day. The range I go to is operated by a small rural gun club where Monday through Thursday is the best time to go. Weekends the range is usually full up with shooters and can be a long wait to get a position.

Yes, quite!

I have a number of experimental (load development) rounds and a couple rifles I've never shot; just waiting for the winter here in Nebraska to clear out sufficiently for the range to be dry and walkable to post targets and set up my chronograph!

The weather is rather nice this week and much of the snow has melted. However, the melting snow (now water) runs into the lowest portion of the range property, the metallics range. Both graveled and grassy sections just hide the couple inches of water slowly draining/evaporating.

But it is coming and I am most ready for the delightful therapy of registering and comparing velocities and group results of four rifles in the same caliber. And another rifle in a different caliber.

In fact, just driving out and sitting, estimating how long the water will stay is rather comforting.

To take all of my .22 semi-auto rifles and verify the sights.

That shouldn't take too long,,,
I only own two semi-auto rifles.

Sounds silly but going shooting actually is considered therapeutic for some people. I have anxiety issues (one of those gifts from the Marine Corps that keeps on giving) and I had a doctor tell me that shooting makes me feel better because I have control over the situation - it could be that I just like shooting things. Regardless, since my range is in my backyard I get my therapy for free.

I had some range therapy today, its been a while.

I usually shoot on private property, but wanted to do something different. You know, leap day and all. Went to the somewhat local indoor range and shot my carry gun, an XDs 45. A model 10 38 special and a Sig P239. I was packing up and had a crazy idea. I saw that it was "machine-gun Monday" so I inquired. This was my first time at the range so I was unfamiliar. The rental fee was waived, just needed to buy ammo.

So, first time at an Indoor range and first time full auto experience! I shot an UZI in 45 acp. It was a good day!

Oh, yes....having squared the reticles of all my scoped rifles, Next comes the range session to get them sighted in. I'm gonna try Appleseed this year!:D

Question...I have a cheap ChiCom red/green dot sight. Would it be a good idea to swap it for the 3-9 scope on the 10-22, or just stick with what I know?

Not until now.

I'm planning on a range day on Sunday morning. We just got a bit of snow today, with promises of more the rest of the week, so right now it's weather dependent. I'll likely go out either way, just maybe not for as long as I had planned. Gotta test a new AR build, test function after replacing parts on another, and finally shoot the Ruger P89 I got back in January.

My favorite range therapy involves my 6 bore flintlock. Nothing like sending 2.5 oz of lead down range to make you smile. And the involved loading process helps ease my mind off of any issues
