Hey, ev'rybody. How're the kids? [for those unmarried, replace with "How's it hangin'?" or "How are you?" For the more not-immature-guys :D ]

Y'see, there are two rifle ranges my dad and I frequent, one's nearby (hilariously, it's not very far from my school) and has rifle, rimfire, shotgun, and pistol sections. The other is waaaay out in the boonies (Quail Creek) in a relative sense, and has pistol, rifle, and shotgun sections.

The former, the local Winchester Public Shooting Range, has tubes on the Rifle Range, so it's discarded right off the bat (I hate tubes. Tubes are like Satan on wheels. Besides, they limit us jackaces without scopes to 50 yards. Disgusting.) but the shotgun section is where my dad and I always shoot trap and such, so we go to the place anyway.

The latter, Quail Creek, has a nifty rifle range, with no tubes, but is kind of campy; but at least they let you shoot at 25 or 100 yards, and caliber matters not.

The woes bit about all this comes in the shape (octagon!) of ammunition restrictions. Neither allow full-metal jacket rifle rounds to be fired on the range. This infuriates me, because it cuts my dad (he pays) and I (I get the guff for costing money) out of the cheap military surplus, and cheap FMJ offerings from various companies. I can't really see their logic, though. Both have sizeable berms (the one at the winchester range must be fifty feet tall, but I can't really tell how thick it is, and the one at Quail Creek is about 20 or 30 feet tall, and probably 50 feet "thick" sloping down at a pretty lazy angle).

What this all boils down to is asking whether there are any ranges (rifle, especially, we don't have a pistol... [yet, hopefully]) within a reasonable distance (up to about 45 minutes) of Flower Mound, Texas (North of Dallas) that allow the use of FMJ bullets?
