OK, its probably someone's idea of hocus pocus marketing, but I have one too so I'm going to ask.

I saw a factory 10/22 synthetic carbine stock listed on ebay (Item number: 270356885111) for $100+, described as a rare collector item because it was only made for two years.

It is the version with the Ruger name molded into both sides of the flat recessed cheek area, versus actually having even some plastic there to rest your cheek on . Having one on my stainless 10/22 carbine, I could understand why Ruger would pull it after two years. I found the ebay ad looking for a factory wood stock replacement.

So, is this a collectors item or not?

My personal feelings are that they are rare for a reason. I would not want one. I do know that there are some who feel that the "boat paddle" stock as it is sometimes refered to is a better stock than the newer design synthetic on the 77 MK-2's. Find the right person and the guns with those stocks will sell for a little more.

If I remember correctly, this was a 10/22 model that was sold exclusively by Wal*Mart for $109 back in the day. I liked it, my buddy has two. No way the stock alone is worth $100 IMHO.

No shortage of good after market stocks for the 10/22.

Yup. Walmart is where I picked up some time ago.

It will be interesting to see what it goes for if nothing else. And agreed - rare for a reason. Don't much care for my boat paddle.

Bought my 'boat paddle' 10/22 new, from my local dealer, 9 or 10 years ago.

When I hear "Rare" used in relation to a gun / part being sold the B.S. alarm in my head goes off! From our friends at Wikipedia:;)

"Bull****" has a number of euphemisms:

BS
bullshark
bullshnikes
bovine stercus
bovine scat
baloney
bull
bull butter (alluding to something that would be as absurd as a bull producing milk/butter[citation needed])
bull con
bull feathers
bullcrap
bullroar (especially when intimidation is involved)
bullpucky or bullpuckey
bullhonkery
dittmar
horsefeathers
horsepucky or horsepuckey
horse hockey (referring to the hockey-like motion of shoveling manure from horse stalls into a
poppycock (a transliteration of pappe kak, the Dutch phrase for "bird guano")
Horse****

Rare usually means...."This one is special because it's mine and I want double for it."

Get the Tapco six position stock. Probably the best on the market unless you are strictly target shooting. Much better than the wood stock. (although why you would do that with a 10/22 is beyond me)

A stock, even a factory one, fits under the category of accessories rather than parts.

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum so first off I'd like to say Hello.

Recently purchased Blue/Black Syn stock version of the Ruger 10/22 and personally I happen to like the "Boat Paddle" stock over my factory standard synthetic. My Mom has it on her SS 10/22 and I like how it's a bit narrower. If anyone here has that stock and is unhappy with it and would like to sell or trade it for my new (mint) black synthetic stock please send me a message or email to [email protected]

For me it was either the Marlin .22 or the Ruger 10/22. Since my mom said she's gave me a few of her 25 rnd magazines for the ruger, that's of course why i chose the Ruger. Don't know if I got a great deal but bought it while I was on vacation in WI from a small hunter supply store for $200+tax

Thanks,

I about bought one used a while back, just so I could have a synthetic stocked 22, but it looked like somebody had actually used it as a boat paddle.... it was beat all to pieces. Not nearly as durable as I had hoped.

Need a little help please...

I also have this stock. It has a sling swivel on the barrel band at the front of the stock. Where does the rear swivel fit?

Did this stock come from the factory with swivels installed for a sling?

Does anyone have this stock with a sling on it? If so, where does the sling connect in the rear please?

Many Thanks,

Gun Doc

I have that stock on my blued 10/22...shoots ok, but I got it (the whole rifle) in a good trade. I plan on ditching the stock and putting the action in the MG42 kit-- or just trading it outright. Wood is way better (IMHO) on a "stock" 10/22...
