I found an RCBS 502 on Craigs list and am awaiting pricing. They have confirmed it is a 502, but have always had my eye on a 505.

What are the major differences?
Is one easier to use than the other?

For rifle, I'm a dip and trickle kinda guy, but need accuracy. For pistol, I don't weigh each charge and use my LnL AP for mass production.

The 505 is a three poise, the 502 is two. Go to MidwayUSA and similar, and you will immediately see the difference. Only mechanical scale I have used is a 505, I like having three poises, and chose it over the 502 31 years ago after trying both. Obviously nothing wrong with the 502, and it's every bit as accurate.

There really isn't much of a price difference between the two.

I know that the Dillon Eliminator is very similar. If buying new, would you buy the Dillon eliminator versus the RCBS 505?

Not too long ago when the Dillon was $49.99, I'd buy it in a second over the 505. Better base IMO, same Ohaus maker, great product and really just a "blue" 505. Even now, I'd still probably get the Dillon if buying new if the prices were close. I like Dillon, and have been using their 1500 grain D-Terminator for 17 years, and it works extremely well.

and a step up is the 5-10 that I have had for 35 years and trust over any battery scale. they show up on Craigs List ansd Ebay from time to time and IMO are better than the 505
