RCBS AUTO PRIMING TOOL SALE

I’m wondering if that was a special coupon for you, based on other Amazon purchases. I get a price of $86.99, and can’t locate any special coupons. Since I just (finally) mastered my Lyman Ram Prime for above the press priming, I don’t see a need, now...but I spent more than the $86.99 while fighting the issue...which was, naturally, operator error. At least I now have 2 Lyman Ram Prime dies...one set for large, and one set for small, and both in their own Hornady Lock-n-Load bushing. Plus I have the Frankford Arsenal Hand Priming tool...

I rarely send anything back, but I sent the FA primer tool back, it left creases in the primers. So does my RCBS, but it did not used to, just lately, I need to get parts for it.

Off thread but how do you like the Frankford tool?
Looks nice in pictures.
I like it a lot. I have had a lot of problems priming, and the FA tool was to be my last resort. It took quite a while to come in, but once it did I was truly impressed. I sat and primed 500 cases in under an hour, something I could never do with my press. It’s just possible that I didn’t have my Hornady hand Primer set right...and that’s the most challenging thing for me as a new loader. I have no one to look over my shoulder...while these forums are great for information, I miss the second pair of eyes watching over me while I try something new. There was no learning curve with the FA hand primer. I can use either hand, and I can prime with the tray towards me, or away from me, so long as the case mouth is facing away from my nose. Cramping could be an issue, as it does require repeated squeezing, but my hands held up pretty well both during and following my solid hour of priming. Since then I’ve learned the secret to above the press priming with my Lyman Ram Prime, but it’s no where near as quick as the Frankford Arsenal, and I don’t have the same “feel” for seating using the long arm of the press.
That said....if I could have bought an RCBS Auto Prime for $38, as one of our forum buddies did, I’d surely have bought one...or two. For me, it’s all about options.
