Review Of The RCBS Auto Bench Priming Tool

I am having trouble with my wrists & using a hand priming tool became to painfu.l My wrists were swelling up every time i had to prime casings so i did some researching and bought the RCBS Auto Bench Mounted Priming Tool & this tool is truly a Godsend for me. I have primed about two-hundred casing thus far & it has the best "seating feel" i have ever encountred . RCBS has always made excellent reloading tools & this one isn't no exception i love it & the primer pick up tubes are easy to use & i will never go back to a hand priming tool even if my wrists were to get better . If your'e wanting a faster way or in my case a less painful way of priming your casings The RCBS Bench Mount Priming Tool is the choice

Its a great tool. The only negative is it has un-sleeved tubes. Use great care loading the tubes and don't force anything. Nothing worse than having a stacked tube go off....especially one without a sleeve.

IMO the APS version is just as good but 100 times safer. If you read the reviews on the APS version at Midway USA, you might think its not such a great tool. The negative reviews are more a result of people who don't carefully read the minimal instructions. (admittedly an RCBS fault, but quite common, in my experience, among reloading manufacturers)

The number 1 tool to have, to work with APS strips, that makes 99% of APS problems instantly disappear is a cheap wall paper roller. You roll it over the top of a bunch of loaded strips laying on a flat hard surface, and that makes sure there are no primer edges, less than flush, so that there is nothing to catch on anything in the tool. Flawless operation follows.

I've had this auto priming tool for many years and I agree that it's a smooth and efficient way to prime, with a great feel for the primer. I've never used a hand held priming tool, but really have no desire since this one works so well for me. Another plus is that it takes all of about 10 seconds max to change over from small to large or large to small primers.

Agreed. You'd think RCBS would address that. I can't imagine an unshielded tube of primers detonating at arms length.
I guess a person could improvise his own blast shield.
