Will a Lee or Hornady shell holder work with a RCBS Hand Primer?

yes. Lee does have some shell holders that only fit some of their own stuff.

i have problems using my 223 lee shellholder on my RCBS hand primer. it'll work, but i have to bang it on the bench to get it to go down on the plastic insert far enough to fit in the tool.

Hand Primer

I have had the same problem with Hornady and Lyman shell holders. I fixed mine by reaming the shell holder with a center reamer. Just cut the tapered hole in the bottom until it fits the plastic guide for the RCBS tool.

RCBS has at least 2 different shell holders that do not fit their hand primer, then there is the first shell holder. The last design has a tapper on the bottom that fits the plastic/split inserts.

I sometimes have troubles with the Lee holder in the RCBS primer tool. It sure seems right thou

my lee dies wouldn't work but i took a carbide cone shaped cutter and reamed out the bottom a little and they work fine now.
