Recently my RCBS scale started failing to calibrate. New battery didn't make a difference. I thought since it was about 10 years old it could be wearing out? I contacted RCBS and they directed me to this internet address.
5 minutes later I was up and running (calibrated) after giving the scale a 'factory recallibration'. Too bad they didn't put that in the instructions - or maybe they do now.
Things like this are why I still keep my old 505 balance as backup. Wihle trying to figure out the electronic scale problem, the old 505 kept me loading.

Thanks for the info. I use a Powder Pro, the instructions for which are also included in the linked info. I've bookmarked the link for future reference.

Scale Cost

How does the cost of the RCBS scale compare to the Dillon electronic? Are there any performance issues one might consider?

Check out MidwayUSA.com for their price. I paid around $80 when I bought mine but the price has undoubtedly gone up in the years since. It weighs to the nearest 0.1 grain, which is pretty standard. Getting any more accurate is not needed. They make life a lot more convenient but I will always also have an "old-fashioned" (also RCBS) balance handy.
Many times difference companies get the exact same scale from the same manufacturer. They are just made up in the particular colors needed and a different label put on them. Sometimes you pay a lot for the name put on the same scale.

Scale

I have been looking at the Cabelas scale which is in the $80 range. The Dillon just seems like more money for the same thing. I to have the balance beam RCBS and looking to upgrade.

I have always found Cabela's decent to deal with. You will probably find that the scale was made by one of the major manufacturers, just a different label on it.

PACT makes and services RCBS electronic scales. Ohaus made Dillon's electronic scales at one time, but somebody else might be doing it now.
