RCBS TC 40 S&W Seater and x-treme

Hey All,

I have a three die set of RCBS TC 40 S&W/10mm auto dies. I have had them a long time. I don't load 40 S&W too often because I don't have one anymore. I load for friends. I was just working on some x-treme 165gr RNFP loads. I noticed that the seater plug was leaving a slight indentation ring on the bullet because the contact surface in the plug is fairly deep. The ring is about 1/10" from the tip. Doesn't break the plating or anything. I think they're ok to shoot.
Anybody else noticeed this?

Don't worry about it. If you want to fix it, use a dremel or some epoxy and modify the seater plug match the contour of the bullets that you are using.

My RCBS dies do the same, just a little ring at the tip of the bullet. I don't worry about it and shoot them all.

Thanks gentlemen. Something I haven't seen so wanted to check. Been loading since Bill Clinton first threatened a 200% ammo tax. No matter how long you do this, there is always something new and different!
