Ok, I know I can't be the first...

Can anyone tell me the trick to locking up the spindles and removing the mandrel (little tool heads) on the RCBS Trim Mate ?

After using it for a while, the tool heads seem to get tighter and tighter, and now I can't remove a few of them. I can hold onto one of the other spindles but when I try to loosen up the tight one, the gears inside just slip.

Not sure but I know RCBS has a great waranty, They will make it right for you.

Or just open it up and lock down the gear somehow, then use needle nose to pull the tool out of the mandrel.

I'd also recommend lubing the threads on the mandrels so you can more easily pull the tools out.

A landline or email to RCBS will get expert factory help if there is an easy fix. They have always been more than helpful when I have had problems. I am sure they have most likely heard about this problem before.

MartyK, If you look closely at the "station" at the 9 o'clock position, just below the tool you have in that particular station you'll notice "flats" that you can put a small adjustable wrench on to lock the unit so that you can remove the other tools. Hope this helps.
