Anybody using this to de-crimp military primer pockets........223 or others?

Trim mate

I've tried and I've tried,and I've tried. The deburring tool made for the trim mate works better than the crimp removers that are made to do the job but it's just as much a chore. A couple of the guys here highly recommend the Dillon Super Swage 600 saying that it works like a charm. That's my next purchase. Good luck and good shooting!

I have used mine on 5.56 LC brass and it worked fine. You have to stay with it but with a bit of determination it worked well with my brass to "decrimp" the primer pocket.........Chainsaw

Yes, but I use the Hornady tool head, rather than the RCBS one in my Trim Mate. Works great and is only $7 from Hornady.

So how does the little jobber work........

Stick a case down on the case activated attachment and let it do it's thing?

How long do you hold the case in place for the de-crimp operation?

First off if you don't have a Trim Mate, the unit has an off-on switch. All the stations turn when the unit is switched on.

To de crimp, simply screw down the proper decrimp cutter, turn on the unit, and place firmly the case with primer pocket down on the decrimp tool and by "feel" you can tell when the primer pocket has been decrimped.........Chainsaw

Tree Rat, I think that you like will a Trim Mate for all that it can do for you and it makes all aspects of case prep go faster. To chamfer cases both inside and out it works like a breeze. To clean primer pockets in one-two seconds also. Then for decrimping military cases it works fairly fast and doesn't cause the hand and finger fatigue that doing all the above mentioned duties would cause.

The Trim Mate is the best tool I have purchased for making reloading easier. I use a rock chucker press for all my pistol as well as rifle cases, and while I'd like a progressive for doing 9mm and 30 Carbine, the trim mate is what I purchased first...............Chainsaw

Lymann T-Mag

Lymann De-capper Die

Dillon Rapid trim with resize die

- Decap, resize and trim on that rig -

RCBS Trim Mate with....
pocket cleaner tool
pocket uniformer tool
deburr & chamfer tool
military crimp remover tool

- Decrimp, uniform, clean, deburr and chamfer with that rig -

Application of Hornaday One-Shot and into the XL-650 hopper to load.

Loading for several AR-15's, so I'll full length re-size if the Dillon Rapid Trim/Re-size hasn't already done so.

What I'm I missing?

Yes, the Hornady tool will work. The shanks are the same size, but the thread pitch is a little more course on the Hornady, so it will only screw in part way. But it works. I've been using mine on a weeky basis for over 5 years.
