I think my RCBS Trim Pro is broken. I was trimming some cases this evening and shell plate stopped holding the cases tight against the TP Compression Pin face, so when I turned the handle with the cutter contacting the case mouth, the case would rotate freely. Obviously this means that the cutter wasn't removing any brass. :cuss: Yes, I did check that the shell plate was properly seated on the TP Actuating Rods.

Anybody got an idea what went wrong? I'd trimmed about 100 cases during the evening without incident, then this happened fairly suddenly. The Trim Pro is quite new. I bought it in the middle of last year and it's only been used a few times. Not happy.

Make sure the pins the shell plate sits on are tightened. Happens with mine once in a while. The pins work themselves loose, causing the plate to be loose.

Yep, that's what the problem was...

Tightened up those pins and it is working properly again. Might be worthwhile for RCBS to say something about that in the instructions...

Thanks for your help.

Dave.
