Does in 22 hornet that case is notorious for growing. Don't own them.in any other calibers.

Yes, the 'X' die works as advertised, problem, reloaders do not understand the advertisement, first trim the case .020" before starting. As other reloaders like to say "Mileage Varies", RCBS does not claim the case does not grow/get longer, they advertise methods/techniques reduces the need for frequent trimming.



I am not vain, after trimming a case .020" because of multiple firings it is time to start on another case, however, there are reloaders that claim they fire a case 40+ times with no serious after effects, they do not know the weigh of the case before starting, they do not know the weight of the case after firing 40+ times, me? I had cases that were shot so many times they would not stand up without support, forget sizing, there was not enough brass in the case to allow the shell holder to to remove the case from the die. And I ask, is this the only case you have to fire? Are you reloading this one case over and over and etc.." First I offered to form 200 cases for his rifle, for free, he wanted a second opinion, he was sent to the man of few words, his case was pulled apart and measured for case wall thickness, .0025", he was told .002 is good for paper, then he was told he needed new cases.

I had been meaning to order a couple of more of these due to my satisfaction with the one I have in 22 hornet. This thread just reminded me of that so just placed an order for the others I wanted. BTW, I went through Midways .224 bullet selection. Most said out of stock but several flavors said mixed availability. I got two 500 count packages of 34 grain dogtown bullets; 300 of 37 grain varmint grenades; 100 of 40 grain, 100 of 50 grain Cutting Edge Raptors; 100 of 45 grain, 100 of 50 grain, 100 of 55 grain, 100 of 62 grain, 100 of 70 grain Barnes Triple Shock; 100 of 90 gr Sierra Match King; 200 of 90 grain Berger VLD's and a couple more odd boxes of 50 and 100 count of in-stock bullets. Are any of these AR-15 plinking rounds? Not really but my hornets will be well fed for a while and my .22 Savage, .223 Rem. 22 ppc and 22-250 bolt rifles have a lot of new bullets to play with now. Guess it is time to work up some new loads to try out.
