Couple years ago, I was looking for an inexpensive 1911.

Bought this one

This has proven to be a rock solid performer for me. Just yesterday, I shot it side-by-side with a new (600 rds, 3 month old) Colt.

We were shooing at a 5 gallon water jug at 75-80 yards. Standing, freehand with either the Colt or the Tisas, I was smacking it 7 or 8 shots out of 10. I am extremely pleased with this Turk 1911.

Only prob I have had with it was the factory 7 rd mag. It is now functioning well after leaving it fully loaded for months at a time. I also used a piece of 800 grit wet/dry paper underneath the mag lips to debur and make that 1st round of a full mag come out a tad easier.

I have also switched from Enos slide glide to TW-25, with good results.

Overall, I rate this item high for anyone interested in not paying $800 plus.

The Colt of course has a much nicer finish. I would demand that on a pistol in that price range. New, the Tisas has a very gritty trigger, though the break was predictable. I now have 7 or 8 K of rounds through it and the trigger difference between the Tisas and the Colt was almost non-existent.

Just 2 cents for anyone interested!

Cheers!

The price difference isn't that shocking, but it could come to that. Just look at WWII parts bin guns from Ithaca, Rand,......vs. GI lookalike from Armscor (aka RIA, Taylor's,......). It's $400 vs. $2000 or more. Sometime I have hard time understanding gun buyers.

Another gun made by same people is the Regent R200SS and R100. Both in the $450 or less price range that come with a good trigger and good finish. Mag that comes with these are better thrown away and replaced with standard brand mags (or government surplus mags)

Thanks for the update. Don't see too much out there on the Turkish 1911s. Always good to get a quality gun for your money these days. I have also been impressed with RIA's 1911s.

Should have mentioned in this original post that this is the IAC model. Yep, same as the Regent. Bught new holster for it last week and the gun shop had a smackin new Regent I used to check holster design/fit. First time I'd handled a Regent. Was the R100. I had thought it might have a tad different finsh and had seen R100s with wood grips instead of synthetic.

Was exactly same as the IAC.

Again, have been very please with it, especially after the trigger has worn in.

Just my 2 cents!

Cheers!

I went to a gun show yesterday looking to pick up an inexpensive 1911 and was looking at all the Philipino and Turkish models. I was really impressed with the Regent. The finish was nice and the edges were very smooth. In comparison the ATI model had really sharp edges in places like the safety lever.
