Reactivation of '95 Assault Weapons Ban

It also doesn't stand a chance of passing despite Biden's wet dreams. 95% of the Democrats saw that it lost them the congress. The only real chance is when the likes of Trent Lott and company get together to help it get passed, usually under the guise of an addon to another bill like we seen all through this decade so far.

"Don't get cocky!" - Han Solo.

If 95% of Democrats think gun control cost them congress, then why does Carolyn McCarthy have nearly 60 co-sponsors on her greatly expanded standalone AWB????????

In other words, don't ASSUME this will fail, contact the Senate and MAKE it fail!

Biden..........ah, the good people of my state keep voting for the guy:banghead:

I've written to him before on gun-related issues and gotten no response.

Adding to what Green Lantern said, those 59 cosponsors account for just over 25% of the Democrats in the House. Granted, this is far from a majority, but it's a bit more than 5% as well. ;)

And if support for the proposed .50 cal ban is any indication, expect at least 10 cosponsors in the Senate.

Personally, I believe that Biden, and Kucinich in the House, are jumping back on the ban-wagon in a fresh attempt to make themselves seem more "liberal" than Clinton so as to bolster their campaigns. Or perhaps just to drag her further to the left in the run-up to the primaries. That they both waited until the end of October (and on the same day..) to start pushing for the AWB again sounds awfully political..

If we are going to reduce recidivism and crime, we simply have to make concerted, common-sense efforts now to help the 650,000 ex-offenders released from Federal and State prisons every year successfully re-enter and re-integrate into their communities.

Try actually punishing them, rather than just locking them up in a barred hotel with three squares and cable. If you make it unbearable, they might not want to come back.

Stop Senseless Gun Violence: Renewing the Assault Weapons Ban and Closing the Gun Show Loophole. The Biden Crime Bill provides for a straight-forward reauthorization of the assault weapons ban that became law in 1994 and it closes the so-called gun show loophole by requiring all gun show sales submit to federal background checks, just like any store-based firearm sale.

Even though the numbers prove the damn thing didn't work the first time, lets expand it to cover more territory that results in more mistakes.

The NYC &hitty Council wrote a .50 cal ban - until they fixed it the ban included 12ga shotguns and black powder firearms.:cuss:

Now our great Governor :cuss:wants to have black powder firearms regestered:banghead:

Dont assume - they are out to get us and will use any means possible:fire:

Bought my first AR15 lower last weekend, because it is better to get them now when you can in case another AWB happens. In fact the reason I got into guns was because the AWB sunset. I've bought more guns because of the sunset than I would have, had it never happened.

I'm hoping the Heller case goes our way, because the next few years are going to be rough for gun owners.

The wife and I our planning to obtain our CCWs, carry guns, an SKS, and probably an AK before Jan. 20, 2009. I'm thinking I'll name the AK "Hillary."

I'm thinking I'll name the AK "Hillary."

Alternatively, you could call it "The Beast" or "The Beotch" and everyone here would understand that it was the same name.

Personally, I favor getting a very unlikeable female dog, naming it "Hillary" and when it does something wrong you can just refer to her properly (in the dictionary sense of the word, Art's Grammaw) as "that bitch, Hillary."

One poster mentioned getting into ARs because of the federal ban.

If anyone doubts this is a common phenomenon, read this June 2007 article in the New York Times.

It's somewhat pleasing to me....the irony that the federal ban did FAR MORE to encourage interest and ownership of these particular firearms than it did to reduce the number of them out there. Foolish prohibitionists....

PS: Doesn't Zumbo look cute with that pink and black AR?

Bidens hair plugs are dying. He has no chance of being President. Is not this his 3rd try. Good Grief. I think he is a little rattled in the head. However, if we get a Democrat as President and the House is Democrat controlled they will push it again with the help of the MSM. You can bet on that as much as taxes going up. Maybe the USSC will save the 2nd.

Is there a difference?

Yep. I don't define myself by the guns I own. I actually do think there is more to life than just guns. Crazy, eh?
