Maybe not. The oft derided Muzzlite Mini-14 stock may not be so laughable after all.
If you replace literally all of the guts and safety with machined steel, you end up with a flawlessly funtioning, inexpensive bullpup that has a relatively crisp trigger pull and positive safety.
The top handle was cut off level with two steel plates sandwiching the carry handle, top and bottom. A scope rail was then drilled and tapped to handle an Aimpont.
This one works, gents........ and there's nothing laughable about the performance. If you have access to a machine shop for the conversion you'll have an inexpesnsive functioning pickup truck, kick-around bullpup.

I pulled the trigger on a bushmaster bullpup a couple times.

I checked thrice to see if the safety was still on.

I am never going to let myself be convinced to buy any bullpup.

rbernie, the trigger is a part of the slide that pushes on the Mini's trigger. The slide is supported by the plastic internal side rails, so....... all that had to be done was insert longitudinal sleeves in the rail slots. Light lube with steel on steel and it moves easily with no flex whatsoever.
This isn't hard to do. Open the Muzzlite, replace everything internally with metal, (not much in there) use LocTite on the large screws that hold the stock together, cut off the clunky handle/sight setup, install your own optic type sights and fire away.
This particular Mini is a stainless steel rifle and shoots and easy 2moa at 100 yards.

Guns & Survival put the Muzzlelite on their cover about twenty years ago. Back then, at least they GENTLY and understatedly hinted at the horrendously long, heavy, creepy trigger pull from all that linkage. Worse than the controls on an old stretch limousine.

When I get the chance I'll open it up and take a picture. Probably not till thursday or friday, but once you see it you'll be able to make your own. The trigger is actually part of the steel plate that slides to the rear and presses on the trigger. It looks the same as the cheap plastic one that comes with the stock but it doesn't flex at all.

I'm really curious as to the design and construction of your steel trigger rail. Did you machine it yourself or have someone else do it? Reason I ask is I just bought a used Muzzelite stock for $50 and I'm finding the trigger pull to be too squishy as well, so I'd like to look into alternatives for it.
