I was sort of "surfing" the .223 load data on hodgdon.com when I noticed Titegroup was one of the possible powders to select. I didn't realize it could be used for rifle - so for giggles I wanted to see what the load was.

What I got is what I show below. *3.1* gr of Titegroup under a 55gr FMJ for a pressure roughly 1/10th of "normal" and 1/3 the normal muzzle velocity? Is that a mistake? I presume not. Is it common to load up some really lite .223 loads like this?

55gr at about 1000fps?...why not just put in a Ciener conversion and shoot .22lr?

Its a subsonic load.

Its good information for those that want versatility. There are also other powders, such as Blue Dot that one can use for supersonic, but lower noise or "report" loads.

Again not for everybody, but some reloaders like to have these options.

For when you want to shoot subsonic suppressed .22 but can't find any to buy. I can reload these sub .223 with my own cast boolits for cheaper than what I buy .22lr for. Great to have the option.
