Have a Springfield 1911 that has a broken Bomar rear sight on it. Would like to remove the base on it but can't remember which way the sight goes in. I think from the right. Before I go beating on it would like to verify this.
Anyone know which way?

thanks

Looking from the rear, from the right to left going in. Check for set screws before you start whacking on it. What do you plan to replace it with? Kensight makes an exact replacement. I'd like to get the old parts from you if you've got no plans for them.

A real Bomar sight is retained in the dovetail by two setscrews under the leaf and by the elevation screw itself. Don't go whacking on it until you have removed the elevation screw and loosened the set screws.

It is a real Bomar. Screws are out. Don't remember what broke as it's been a while. All I remember is that something broke under the leaf and Bomar is out of business.
Gonna put a Optima on for a fun gun but have to get the base out first.
Bill if I find the rest of the parts I will keep you in mind.

thanks
