I have a 1917 eddystone enfield that has been sporterized, rear ears milled off,new stock? It shoots very straight it has a scope on it but would rather have a peep sight on the rear and was wondering if Williams 5D-JEMS peep would work on the rifle? Thank you

I can't answer your question directly but you probably could make something work. I have a 1917 sporter and it's a very nice rough and tumble rifle. I would leave it as is and not spend any money on it. I'll dig mine out and see what sight was put on it.

Thank you i have just been getting so frustrated with the scope i believe it is on crooked but don't know how to check, but i like peep sights more anyway.

Okay i was looking at a rear mounted peep on my rifle because any form of sight has been removed off of the back along with were it mounts but thank you. Does anyone know if the peep i mentioned will fit on a 1917 enfield?

You'll have yourself a darn good heavy duty rifle when your done. Battle tested action, battle tested trigger group etc. Maybe try removing the scope and mount and reinstalling. Run the scope adjustments all the way stop to stop and then center and bore sight. But you'll be a retro hipster with the Williams peep, you win either way.

I guess i should have mentioned that the scope is called The Texan and the post, not cross hairs move instead of the background like today's scopes. It has a scope mount with windage screws for left and right so i haven't been able to straighten it out.

It sounds like the Williams sight is a good and affordable solution. In the meantime, it would be great to see some photos of your rifle and scope.

I have a 1917 that I'm also looking into a rear peep for. Same situation as you, scope mounts installed but I want a peep. A previous owner had peeps on it with the rear mounted on the right side of receiver, 5/8"ish hole spacing. Gonna contact Williams and see if there's will work. Will let you know if I end up putting a Williams on mine.

The Williams sight fit perfect for me - keep in mind a previous owner already had the holes tapped for one, back in the day.
