Ok the title pretty well stated what I'm looking for.

My son is getting a 20 gauge O/U for Christmas. I want to get him some target ammo with reloadable hulls.

I loaded 12 gauge for myself for many years but took a long hiatus from shotgunning. I always used AA hulls but I'm still I'm shock after seeing what one box of AA 20 gauge target ammo is going for!

How about the Estate ammo? Any good?

I haven't bought shotgun ammo in 2 decades and don't know who has the good hulls nowadays. I always used AAs & Federal Gold Medals in my 12s with excellent results.

The Remington STS are "the" hull of choice now days ... The Remington Gun Clubs right close ...

The Winchester AA are still good hulls but nothing to compare to the hulls of old AA days ...

Plenty of other hulls that are reloadable ... it is just a matter of getting a recipe that works ...

If you keep an eye out, you can find Gun Club shells for sale at the same price as the cheap Federal/Estate and Winchester promo loads. I have a couple of 5-gallon buckets of Federal/Estate that I reload once and toss, but I've got a bunch of Gun Club that's been through 6 or so loadings and are still holding up great. This is 12-gauge, but the 20's are supposed to be roughly the same.

Don't forget about the remington dove & quail and game loads also. The hulls are supposed to be effectively identical and sometimes they can be cheaper at times.

If you reload ,just buy the components and have at it. Once fired hulls are readily available and can be found for sale at many sites on the net. They will save you a ton of money in the long run.

Right now, powder is the weak link but there are confirmed reports that Hodgdon's Clays lines - Universal, International and Clays are on shore and making their way through the distribution channels. When they actually make it to store shelves after taking care of backlogged wholesale orders is something else
