I received my Deringer a couple days ago and just now found the time to mess around with it early this morning.

As advertised in FAC, it features an all-brass frame and barrel with white imitation ivory grips. The nipple is accessed by the side pivoting of the barrel. The fit and finish is surprisingly agreeable considering the price and locale of manufacture (The Philippines).

Being all brass, I didn't dare test fate with any serious loads, but I did fire five 00 copper-coated buck over a load of 10gr FFFG, as well as an interesting "shot" experiment.

At a grand total of 10 feet, I fired at:

1) an empty cereal box for a nice big target
2) an old telephone book (dry)
3) a water filled 2 liter bottle
4) Playdough...
5) more Playdough

Test #1 & #2:
It's certainly no .32acp FMJ when it comes to penetration. Though the cereal box offered no challenge, the 300 page phone book did. The buckshot lodged halfway in and effectively "flattened out".

#3
The water bottle split on both sides, with the ball never recovered.

#4 & #5
The Playdough was the most telling, with an average penetration of 8".
This is roughly what I get with .380acp JHP, but without the disruption.
In fact, there was very little disruption to the Playdough and relatively little upset of the 00b itself. From my previous (and embarrassingly "extensive") Playdough-ballistics experience, I'd wager that this bugger throws a 00b in the vicinity of 500fps, give or take.
For comparison, I've had .32acp ball (PMC and Hornady) easily exceed 15".

The "shot experiment" involved 10grs of FFFG and approximately 25 #8 shot between two cardboard wads.
With ample eye protection, I fired at an empty dogfood can pirated from my recyclables bin.
Heavy indentation at 10' with a few pellets that appeared to have made it through to the inside. Had the can been anchored, I believe most would have punched through.

Though this shiny-n-snazzy little novelty piece would never be seriously considered for self defense in this day and age, it is nonetheless a seriously fun Deringer to play around with.

Thank you for the after-action report. 8" penetration is respectable for a mouse gun. But, do you have to apologize to the kiddy for using the play-dough? Or didja just roll it up and put it back in the can? :p

Sounds fun!

So where does one find this BP deringer? Shotgun News? Internet website? I want one!
