Recent Glock Shortage?

Still doesn't answer my question. Not a glock armorer but the only difference is the grip texture and the dual recoil springs. They want you to shoot, but with more recoil than them?

that is not correct. Different frame, slide, sear housing, trigger bar. etc. etc.

Well, it's six weeks since I ordered. The email I got from my dealer basically said they've been getting a few civilian G19's in and they're sold out within days. No word on Blue Label availability yet.

The good news is G19's are showing up again.

Fingers crossed.

The Pentagon ordered 40,000 Gen4 Glock 19s for the Marines and SEALs. The next 40,000 Glock makes are going to fulfill that order, so yes there is a shortage of them in the civilian pipeline.

Sounds like I picked the wrong week to order a Gen4 19. I sent in a prize cert for one a week ago today. I wonder how long it takes to produce 40,000 Glock 19s?

I got the call today. 10 weeks to the day from the order to arriving. I'll be picking um my Gen4 G19 tomorrow. Yay!

That being said, the only sore spot about the whole thing was that nobody could quote a lead time. Neither my dealer, nor their vendor would quote a lead time.

I was inches away from buying a Gen3 this past weekend but I held off. I certainly made the right decision afterall!

Congratulations and shoot it in good health!

(And you know we'll be waiting on the range report, right?)

Range report coming soon. I've never liked the Glock grip angle but now that I'm far more experienced than the last time I considered a Glock that I can probably overcome it.

Let's hope!

Got her out to the range today. 200 rounds of Blazer Brass 124 grain went downrange. At first, I was shooting a bit low and to the right. The trigger out of the box was a bit stiff so I guess I might have been muscling it a bit and squeezing the grip too hard along with it.

After about 25 rounds the trigger started to loosen up. Still not crisp like my PPQ but better than it was. My shots were back on target but a bit left. The sights are a bit different from the three dot sights I'm used to.

But got it on target around round 50. Groups not as good as my PPQ but I also have 2500+ rounds through the Walther.

For the next 150 rounds I shot two handed, tried to limp wrist, shot strong hand, and off hand. I COULD NOT induce a failure today. That's Glock reliability for you.

At the end of the day, the recoil is snappier than my PPQ, the trigger isn't as good as my PPQ, and the ergonomics aren't as good either, but far better than the Gen 3 models that I had previously shot.

At the end of the day, I'm excited for my Glock, excited for the reliability, and excited that I don't hate it at all. It's a damn fine gun. Just not as fine as my well loved PPQ.

Nothing in the world says you have to like it better than your PPQ.

Glad to hear that it was (overall) a good range trip! Shoot it in good health.

If you're not willing to take a discount you're entitled to, yes they're out there. But why pay a premium?

When your dealer orders one of the most popular guns in the world and it takes 10 weeks to get there, there's a shortage in the supply chain.
I would imagine that there is nothing inherently different in a Glock 17 and a Glock 17 "blue label".

I would also think that Glock might be limiting the number of "blue label" guns as they are obviously selling them at a higher price elsewhere. Why sell a Glock for $325 when others are willing to give you $500? Glock is first and foremost a business and they are 100% financially motivated.

Simply put the difference is about $150 less and an extra magazine.

I'd rather spend less to get more where I'm able to.

I understand, but there is not "shortage" of Glock pistols, simply it might be that Glock is allocating less of their inventory to making them less money.

You have two alternatives, wait or pay more like the rest of us.

You could also look at the used market like Armslist, I have seen a lot of LNIB Glocks for substantially less than new. I bought both a lightly used G34 and G41 off of Armslist for far less than new.

Correct. 10 weeks of patient waiting and I got my Blue Label.

At one point I was tempted to buy one at regular price. A few days later I got the call that it arrived.
