Bought 3lbs of it today and at the store, shook it and felt that each had had something solid inside. All 3 cans had to be dumped out one at a time and the powder broken apart.

What store did you buy it at?
I'd be curious and check the date code on the can if I found that.
If it was more than a year old I might solicit said store for reparation depending on how reputable they are.
I have no personal experience with Black MZ, however most black powder substitutes have much shorter shelf life than Real Black Powder especially in less than ideal conditions.
I would expect it to do fine in a sealed can though. Maybe that is normal for Black MZ, but I wouldn't think so.

NewDon't leave that sitting out on the counter if you have cats in the house.
Now if only you had a cannon.

Oh Lord don't start. He already says this powder looks as big as kitty litter.:fire: The MZ powder I bought from Sportsmans Warehouse was not lumped up like that. I wouldn't be happy about it either.

I have several pounds of old APP. I have a stiff brass wire bent to be a lump buster that I chuck into my cordless drill. A few seconds or so and it is back to new.

I wouldn't hold that stuff in my hand while I do that or keep it in front of my face in large amounts.

I would separate the lumps and put the rest of the good stuff back in the jar and BREAK UP SMALL AMOUNTS AT A TIME ONLY OF THE CLUMPED POWDER. This stuff from what I heard ignites almost as easily as black powder and I suspect a static charge may be enough to do it.

Back in the jar and shake it up. It will be fine. I have some GEOX FFFg that lumped in my horn. Poured out the loose stuff and gave it a good shake.Back to its normal granulation and shoots fine. It 20 years old or more Unlees yah dropped a cup of coffee in the can drinking java and readin the paper it will be fine.

I've had a few cans like that. It's one of its downsides.
On the plus side, just bust em up and your back in business.

I shot some yesterday at 100 yards, 80gr volume, 250gr real, lubed felt wad. 3 shots. The final shot in the bullseye was with its normal 80gr Pyrodex P load. This is my dads hunting load ( 80gr Pyro P ) and I will stick with that. I mostly just wanted the Black MZ to save my pyrodex and my beloved goex.
