Looking for favorite recipes in either .38 spl and/or .357 with using a 140gn TCFP from MBC (brinell 18) I’m using the hi-tek coated bullet, .357 Zinger.

I have 2400 and Bullseye to use.

As a starting point, the older Lyman's 44th Edition (1967) quoted below:

Given the age of the data, and the lack of pressure data, I suggest starting with the "accuracy load" -10% and work up to what works in your revolver. The older Lyman data is good as a starting reference with lead bullets only - but for that it is very good. Notice for 2400 powder, the 121gr. and 141gr. charge data is the same but the velocities are pretty far apart.

For 140gr plated or cast I've good results with Accurate #5 and VV n340 for warm 38 spl and mild .357 mag. both with small pistol primers.

Can you provide details as to why and with what bullet?
Thanks.
2400 is better then Bullseye in 357 mag. Pressure spikes very quickly with Bullseye & will not provide maximum velocity.

I load a 357 mag, with a home cast 158 gr lswc with 2400 powder- 13. 0 grs.
The 38 special, same bullet, with 3.0 grs Bullseye.

You should buy the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook rather than rely completely on someone else's copy and willingness to read it to you with a chance of error.I think 2400 is always going to be listed under 357 Magnum, 158 gr lead, and surely Bullseye would be an option under 38 Special.

Alliant will also mail you a free manual if you go to their site
