Hi Guys,
Anyone using 16s gamekings from thier .30-06?
What are your recipes and what are they producing over the chrono?

thanks

steve

I use 59.0 grs of H4831 SC and get a velocity of 2700 fps out of my Savage 110 with an average group hovering right at an inch at 100 yards. This load fills the case right up to the bottom of the neck. Every deer that I have shot with this load is usually down within 30 yards.

IMR 4064 and 165's has been a good combo for me in 30/06. No chrono data, just worked up to book max and my rifle gets more accurate as speed increases.

My load for my Browning A-bolt .30-06 is the same as dodge's (59 grains H4831 SC) except I use the Sierra 165 grain HPBT GameKing. I am getting 2730 fps and about 2" three shot groups at 200 yards.

I read an article a few years ago the the arthur said his go to accuratice load was 57 gr of IMR 4350 give or take a grain. I tried that load and it gave me nothing but 2 +" at 100 yards. Everytime I've had to replace my 30-06 my go to load is the 59 gr. of H 4831 either the SC or the standard cut and has always given me the 1 -1 1/2 " groups that I like for a hunting rifle.

No...The SC stands for "Short Cut". Original H4831 is a long extruded powder and had a desity problem and tended to over fill the case causing a compressed load. The H4831SC (which is H4831 kernals cut in half) will give you better desity and will still give you a compressed load, but at a higher weight. H4831SC also helps to illiminate having the kernals being cut by the powder measure. Both H4831 and H4831SC are sold...

Oyeah, Oyeah, Oyeah!!!!

Finest deer and hog dropping load I have ever used. I use the HP/BT#2140 over 57.5 of IMR 4350 and get dime sized groups at 100 from my M/70. I have NEVER had a deer move from the spot he was in after being hit with that combo. I also use the same load in my BAR (yeah, I know, 4350 isn't recommended for those autos) and the groups hold right there with the M/70.

I started using the HPs because I got tired of looking at the 'dubbed' soft points every time I'd top up a magazine. It might just be my perception, but the HPs seem to work like lightening strikes and its one load I intend to keep on using.

Chrono data says 2950 from the 24" 70 & about 2750 from the 20" lightweight Browning.
