A couple years ago I picked up new, a Remington Express Tactical Magnum ( Synthetic Stock,) 12ga. Shotgun
at a " Could not pass this up " price...stuck it away in my safe...
The recoil pad started to desolve, as if the rubber was not cured properly...contacted Remington...no answer....so purchased from LIMBSAVER what I thought was the correct pad....it was not....sent it back with a scetch of my original pad base...they called me and explained this was a problem they had with the pad they supplied to Remington, and it would be covered under warrenty.
So if you own a Remington Express Tactacal Magnum ( synthetic Stock) and your pad is melting, or you just want to upgrade, here is the order information:
Item # 10806-00-001
Description : Recoil Pad - Rem 870 Wingmaster

It attached without any fitting required .
Hope this is helpfull !

I had one of those pads on an 870. It wasn’t a factory pad but an aftermarket purchase. It, too melted so badly it stuck to the material on the gun locker floor like glue.

I just pitched it and bought a different one, I never thought about calling Limbsaver o_O. Good call .

Stay safe.

Not only the pad will melt, it will also attack other plastics. I had one sitting on nylon carpet and it left a “puddle” of melted carpet when I moved it.
