I got a tired old broomhandle bolo recently, and after reading all the stuff about how dangerous they can be, decided to replace the springs.
So far, the only spring to arrive is the recoil spring that goes inside the bolt. I put the new one in, and after putting the firing pin in (didn't replace the firing pin spring though), the firing pin spring and recoil spring kind of bind up whenever I pull the bolt back. I put 18 rounds through it yesterday, and there was no issues with it not cycling properly because of it (had some feed issues though, but I think that's a weak magazine spring, which is on backorder), but it still sounds bad, and I would imagine it might wear the springs out faster too.
Is there some special trick when installing the firing pin to get the springs not to rub on each other? Does this even matter? It never did this with the original recoil spring.
