I put a new recoil spring from Wolff in my broomhandle and it wont cycle properly with anything less than full power Tokarev ammo. I thought that stuff was supposed to be too hot for a mauser. ????

.30 Mauser ammo won't cycle your pistol with the Wolff recoil spring?
I'm thinking the Wolff spring is too heavy. Can you find a non-increased power recoil spring, maybe Numrich or Brownell's?

Yeah, kinda makes you wonder about all the internet screamers who shout about how your Broomhandle "will explode!" if you use Tokarev ammo. I have always maintained that it's probably just fine to shoot most Tokarev loadings in a well-maintained and sprung Mauser C96. If you do a bit of research, you will find that most European 7.63 Mauser was loaded pretty hot, and most 7.62 Tokarev is not loaded nearly as hot as many think.

All right, I admit it, I was trying to bushwack all the guys that think Tok ammo is loaded way hotter than the Mauser ammo. Of course my broomhandle works just fine with 7.63 Mauser ammo because the two rounds are loaded to the same pressure. When the Russkies copied the Mauser round they DID NOT increase the loading. The Mauser was chambered for the 9X25 Export round, which makes the 38 Super look puny (128gr @ 1360), and it had no trouble handling that round. Try rechambering a 9mm Tokarev to 38 Super and see how long it lasts. Put in any spring you want. It would beat itself to death before you went through a box of ammo. The russians never loaded any extra hot sub gun ammo, that is a myth. Before shooting ANY old gun, put new springs in it. Google up Wolff Gunsprings, they have springs for damn near anything that shoots, The set for my Broomhandle was about thirty dollars, including shipping.
