First post on this forum.

I'm interested in a concealed carry compact 9mm or .40. Long-term affordability is important to me, so I'd like a .22 conversion for practice.

Short-term affordability is also a factor, so let's say <$1k for the pistol+conversion.

Important criteria:

Reliability
Smooth, (light?), consistent DAO trigger
Compactness (concealability)
And of course availability of a .22 conversion

High capacity magazine is not important to me.

Any recommendations for what to take a closer look at?

TIA.

Both the Glock 19 and 23 (9mm and 40sw compacts) are great firearms and have 22lr kits available for them. All together you should have no problem staying under 850.

CZ P01 and similar CZ75 based guns have the Kadet Kit.

The Glock 26 and 27 also have kits.

You can also find 1911s with conversion kits.

Thanks for the ideas. I was already leaning toward the glock 26 or 27, but the CZ info is new food for thought--I hadn't heard of the kadet kit.

Any other sub-compacts that can be .22'd?

Say! The budget likes the pf9 possibility! Assuming the conversion doesn't cost more than the pistol. Any insider info about when the kit might come out? I'm not into waiting for vaporware....

I don't know anything beyond that link. I found out about it the day before you asked. I suppose you could call twistedindustries and ask. I want to say that maybe the conversion kit is going to be $150-$175, but I can't remember where that number came from.

Take a look at the Glock 23. Smaller than the Glock 22 and easier to hold than the Glock 27. It is very light and I can carry it all day.
