I have a confession to make. I don't know diddly squat about optics. The only optical sight I ever owned was an EoTech. I've just purchased an S&K mount and ring for my K31 and I need a good scope with generous eye relief. This mount replaces the rear sight which is forward of the action, hence my need for a scout scope. I'd rather not spend a fortune, so let's say a budget of $300.

My 'scout' made out of an M38 nagant is at my dad's house, so it's been a while since I've had it in hand, but I'm pretty sure that the BSA shown below is the same one I used. The scope has held up well and it used to be one of my favorite rifles. Either way, you get to play around with the scout scope concept for just $40. If you want to move up, or move up right away, I think that the leupold scout scope is actually in your price range.

There are a few for sale at that place. If money is no object, then I'd probably go ahead and get the leupold.

Whatever you end up getting, let us know how the scope and setup works and the uses you end up finding for it. I'm consistently curious to hear about scout rifles.
