I have been thinking about getting a suppressor for my TRG22 for a few months now. However, this will be the first suppressor I have ever purchased so any information one can provide on the rules to obtaining one would be most helpful. What are the best suppressors that you guys have found through personal experience? The AAC Cyclone seems to be popular among most .308 guys but I would like to hear some more opinions/experiences from you guys. If anyone out there is using a suppressor on your TRG22 can you please post pics/information on your set-up? Thanks.

Also, what did you put down as your reason to have a suppressor on your form?

If you do go to SilencerTalk just be aware that the site is run by people who are associated with one company and everything is geared towards that companies product. The site doesn't have anything from some of the competitors in the manufacturers forum.

Obtaining a suppressor will depend on where you are located. Some states still do not allow them. If your state does contact a dealer near you who handles NFA items. The dealer will have the paperwork for you to fill out. Next will depend on the local sheriff and whether he will sign off the paperwork or not. If the sheriff will not sign then you will have to form a trust to go any further.
Mail the forms and fingerprint cards to ATF along with a $200 dollar check and sit back and wait. Paperwork is currently taking about 6 months from ATF. Once you have the paperwork back you can pick up your new toy.

As far as what is best, it is no different than asking what is the best car, gun, etc. The answer will vary depending on who you ask.
For reason on my forms I have always used "Collecting and Recreation". Others have used " for all lawful purposes". Your class 3 dealer can also recommend what has worked for him on the forms.
