Finally got my Nylon 66 back from a "friend" I loaned it to!!

Cleaned it up, haven't function-fired it yet, but, assuming it works properly, which red dot sight would you folks recommend?
The original iron sights somehow "got lost", and I don't see a scope as an option.
This will not be for hunting or precise work as I have other options, but my wife really likes the "feel" of this rifle, and it seems like 15 rounds of .22 HP (assuming the rifle eats them like it used to) should be adequate for any threats that I foresee in our situation.

The Trijicon RMR would be ideal for this rifle. Lightweight and small, like the Nylon 66, and very durable in the long run with great clarity.

IMO:
You don't need a electronic sight for HD.
In fact you don't even need any sights at all.

Look down the barrel, put in the second shirt button from the top, and let her rip.

Fooling with a RD sight during a crisis at bad breath distance is the last thing in the world you need to slow you down!!

I've had good luck with the Burris FastFire II - the only complaint i had about it was that I couldn't pick a preset brightness, it was auto-adjust only, and I like my dot brighter than most folks. Burris addressed that with the FastFire III, it has auto-adjust, but also preset brightnesses. Also, on the III, the battery can be changed without removing the optic, on the II the optic must be removed for a battery swap.

I like the Leupold DeltaPoint, but it was out of my price range at the time of purchase.

I believe Midway and Numrich carry replacements for the original Nylon 66 sights.

Don't trust a 22 for home defense. They are inherently prone to failure. And completely inadequate as a defensive cartridge.

An AR-15 would be a million times better, and with light weight varmint ammo (50 gr Vmax) over penetration should not be an issue.

I have tried a Vortex SPARC and a Burris fast fire on various rifles. I no longer recommend a red dot sight for anyone. But if you really want one I'd sell you either at a fair price.

I've found a 1-4X scope set on 1X to do everything better than a dot or iron sights. Irons would be my 2nd choice.
