I have an older (181 series) Mini I bought used many years ago. It has a Redfield base and a Weaver K4 scope on it.

I would like to try a red dot on it, because it is used mainly for up-close varmints that are usually running.

I've used a couple of red dots, but I'm completely unfamiliar with how they would mount on this particular setup. Any ideas?

Larry,

Several of the red dot designs will fit in 30mm scope rings. Can you get 30mm rings to fit the base you have on the rifle already?

I'd go with an Ultimak.

It gets the dot low and up front. Makes for fast, natural shooting, especially with snap shots.

I have them on a couple of AK's and love them. I'd mount the dot a little more forward than they show it in the pic myself. The farther ahead, the more you see. Balance is still good and you really dont even feel it up there.
