This is in the "haven't a clue" catagory. I'm interested in mounting a red dot sight on a rifle but can't seemed to rap my brain around the physics of sighting it in... Scopes make sense with a fixed "cross hairs" and a defined center; head's gotta go one place to establish a straight line between eye, cross hairs and target. How do I establish a straight line with a undefined "floating" dot and no particular head placement? I've started with a cheap Simmons red dot with the expectations of moving up but...maybe I've retired too late.. Any suggestions / instructions would be much appreciated.
